I can only speak about the first four episodes, but this drama is already gripping enough. I'm glued to the screen.
-Music
Every song comes at the right moment and sounds like it is needed for its scene. The main OST is a masterpiece.
-Locations
Everyone has already said it, but I repeat, it's astonishing. Especially when you realize the connection of locations to the plot.
Example: the scene on the bridge, where after Qing Lang's conversation with Shi Yuhao, the camera goes down and shows lifeless trees, as a sign that there are no emotions in the relationship between these two. And in the next scene, Qing Lang and Chang Yang are surrounded by picturesque landscape, as are their feelings for each other
-Dialogues

Maybe because of the last bl dramas I have watched where the logic in the dialogues flew into the stratosphere or there was no important information in them, here I understand how the dialogues work and what their meaning is.
 For example, there is an axiom that without an understandable TT, you won’t get a clear respond. And when Qing Lang asks Chang Yang the same question over and over "Do you like men?" Chang Yang сan't answer, because the question is about some random people, not about Qing Lang. Its Brilliant
- Acting
They made me believe them, and that's all that needs to be said.
- Kissing scenes and ets

I share how the actors play regular scenes and intimate scenes, especially kissing.  
 In this drama, the kissing scenes are good, I’d say, not just good.
 There’re no unnecessary gestures display, kisses with barely touching lips or affection, and no needless camera moves.

Is your name men

In one of the conversation between Chan yang and Qing Lang(the “when are you leaving?” conversation), the dialogue initially gives the impression of emotional distance. Chan Yang’s insistence that Qing Lang leave and his claim that he cannot focus on work while Qing Lang is around sounds, at first, like detachment. But the tone quickly becomes inconsistent in a way that suggests the opposite is true. The admission that he is “faking it” changes the emotional direction of the scene completely. From that point onward, it becomes clear that Chan Yang is not pushing Qing Lang away out of dislike, but because Qing Lang’s presence disrupts his ability to maintain emotional control. He is trying, unsuccessfully, to perform indifference.

Qing Lang, on the other hand, does not accept this surface-level performance. His responses feel like quiet pressure, as if he is testing the truth underneath Chang Yang’s words. When he says Chang Yang seems fine without him, it carries the weight of uncertainty rather than accusation, as though he is trying to understand where he stands. The moment Qing Lang says he “likes men” shifts the entire scene. Even though it is framed in general terms, it lands like a confession aimed directly at Chang Yang, especially given everything that has been building beneath the surface. Chang Yang’s reply, “Is your name men?”, is where the emotional tension breaks into something lighter but sharper at the same time. It turns Qing Lang’s statement into something personal, almost teasing him into admitting what is already obvious but unspoken. By the time they kiss, the dialogue has stopped functioning as information exchange and becomes confirmation of what both of them were already avoiding saying outright.

In contrast, Qing Lang’s later statement about loving Chang Yang “this much in a past life” feels like the same emotional truth pushed to its extreme. Where the earlier conversation is restrained and indirect, this one is overflowing and almost poetic to the point of excess. The idea of past lives doesn’t read as literal belief so much as emotional language stretched to its limit, as if ordinary time is not enough to explain what he feels. Saying he needs to “make it all up” in this life gives the love a sense of urgency and inevitability, as though being with Chang Yang is not just desire but something that feels long-awaited or unfinished.

Taken together, both conversations feel like two stages of the same emotional arc. The first (Chang Yang and Qing Lang, “when are you leaving?”) is about denial, misdirection, and feelings that leak through despite attempts to control them. The second (Qing Lang’s “past life” confession) is what happens when that control is no longer possible and emotion begins to spill over into language that is openly poetic and overwhelming. The show, seems to rely heavily on what is unsaid, allowing meaning to build in the gaps between words rather than inside them and that’s the beauty of A WINTER SUN WAKES THE WIND IN SPRING HILLS’ DREAM.

Let Qingtian be the prince of the forest

​I am seriously falling for this series. Even with a few heartbreaking moments, it’s such a memorable ride.

​The Romance: I love the scene where Qinglang uses Changyang’s hand as comfort. The way XCY holds QL's hands always reminds me of an ex back in high school—so gentle and kind. And that kiss? It was so sudden, I was totally shocked!

​The Visuals: Qingtian’s beauty is just too die for. Plus, that rope-tying scene in the mountain immediately reminded me of Wei Wuxian in The Untamed 😭.

​Han Lu and Qi Hao Yu's story caught my attention at first—it reminded me of a very lighter version of Deep In. I liked them until the end, but because the main couples are so strong, I felt like I didn't focus on them or connect as deeply.

Meanwhile, Xu Wen Shu is actually my second favorite character after Changyang. His love toward Qingtian feels so big, pure, and devastating. Seeing all the pain Qingtian had to endure, and then Qingtian's passing? That made me cry. For someone who cries easily, his death was something I never expected—even though I saw spoilers online (the classic curse of watching a series late!). It feels so crazy how his life ended just when it felt like a real beginning was happening between them.

​Let's talk about Shi Yuhao—I never really liked his character. He was to blame for his mistakes and choices, and even after 7 years, he acted like everyone else had to fold to him. I wasn’t super shocked by his ending, though, since a knife was teased in his scenes a couple of times.

​It was definitely Shi Yuhao's fault. I know I shouldn't say it since the guy was going through something, but I believe everyone has to reap their karma. Live through it, make things better, and make choices because they are right—not because they are the easiest.

​Changyan: At his age, he was so mature and capable of anything. But everyone reaches a breaking point where they show a side they hide from the world. When he cried in that car, it wasn't a loud cry—it was a quiet cry of profound pain. Pain from losing a friend, and pain from knowing people didn't respect his friend even after death (even though the parents didn't know the full truth at first and tormented Qingtian for losing their son, when it was an accident).

​Qingtian: I always saw him as so strong over the past few eps, so seeing his absolute vulnerability and pain this time around really hit my core.

​Qinglang: I see him as such a grounded person who really knows himself. If you asked me if I could wait for someone for years without knowing when they'd return, I'd say I have no idea! Both Qinglang and Changyang love in completely different ways, but their love is just so strong. I swear, dramas are really stepping up their BL game.

​With the ending, I wasn't fully, 100% satisfied because we only got a short glimpse of their reunion—I really wish they had a special episode for it! But on the bright side, we got plenty of domestic moments with them across the episodes, so it wasn't a disappointment.

And honestly, for a hot second, I was really hoping Qingtian's death hadn't actually happened and he was just standing right beside Wen Shu taking pictures of the flowers.

​Overall, this is a series I can rewatch, but not too often. If I watched it too frequently, my heart would just break all over again for Qingtian.

I want a ChangYang in life too.

This BL drama is so sensible; it made me really think about the things that we value, the way you can see your life, and different points of view that I didn't happen to think of. Sometimes having a simple life is just ok.
Their chemistry was always amazing to me; the way JingYu made ChangYang's character feel like a walking green forest, he just loved QingLang with all his bad habits and acts. And Yiwen made Qinglang so well, like how it is for an actor to have the urge to feel like two different people. The visual is so beautiful, the connection with nature, the culture inserted, and it was so good to see traditions. Cinematography was STUNNING. And yet, feeling that some things could have gone better in the plot, I cannot think that this series is anything but really good.
Their kisses are like nobody else's kisses; they have to be praised for that. Hope that they have a lot of more series, projects coming because I really loved this one.

I haven't felt this way since I finished The Untamed, to like a series so much, yet to break my heart.
I'm glad I didn't give up after the first few episodes and that I was able to accept that not everything has to make clear sense. It’s an amazing series, but certain details get lost, leaving the viewer with questions.

We’re not talking about episode 13.
I don’t want to accept it yet.

It’s not a plot, it’s storytelling

I really liked the way the story is told. It doesn’t feel like a beginning, middle and end. It's not a plot, it's storytelling. And visually, this show is beautiful. The landscapes, the nature, the cinematography in general. It feels much more polished and carefully made than most Chinese BLs I’ve seen so far. There’s a real sense of atmosphere to it, and it’s beautifully done.

But while there is all that beauty and poetry, it doesn't take away from its realism. The characters feel true - imperfect and vulnerable, each of them wearing their own past without it overshadowing their entire existence. It's a kind of subtlety that is quite rare. I’ve loved so many shows and characters, but the whole plot is often built around one traumatic event that needs to be overcome, and then everything is fine. This is so much more complex than that, without ever forcing the drama.

This also applies to how it depicts the entertainment industry. Of course I can't tell how accurate it is, but it feels like the series, through its course, just shows you how it is - without trying to make a point or advocate for anything.

And then there’s the main couple. I absolutely loved them. What I love most is that they deeply love each other, and this is never really in question. No stupid misunderstandings, no “does he still love me?”, no unnecessary drama because someone didn’t explain themselves properly. They might not always understand what the other is doing, but they trust each other enough to believe there’s a reason behind it. They also don’t give up who they are just to be together. They live their own lives, pursue their own careers and become the people they want to be. And somehow, that’s still part of the life they’re building together. There's no teary promises, no outbursts, just a quiet love, so strong and unquestionable that it doesn't need to be spoken.

There were definitely things that kept it from being a 10 for me, though. I found the sister’s behaviour increasingly frustrating and, honestly, I never really felt the romance between Wen Shu and Qing Tian. Their relationship felt incredibly deep and loving to me, but not romantic. I actually think it might have been more beautiful if it had stayed that way.

The third couple was only “interesting” as a tool to shed some light on the entertainment industry, but they honestly have no chemistry and their story brings down the quality of the show. It sadly captures all of the “gimmicks” of romantic shows - silly fights and misunderstandings, being annoyed and all over each other every other minute. They really break the flow of the series.

A cinematic Masterpiece

After Khemjira, this one drama is a masterpiece for me. The cast , music , acting and Cinematography is TOP NOTCH! Not forgetting the storytelling it was so RAW and very Real. Those who couldn't connect with this gem must be among those crazy fans who only prefer Wattpad brainless shi. And yes if you're a fujoshi or not this series is totally worth it.

Idk why it isn't TOO much famous like those dark dramas? Because this one deserves much more recognition and awards!
I also heard that the budget so little. But you won't even realise once u watch this. It definitely shows that money isn't everything, you need dedication , love and brain to create art and this one series is the proof. So kudos to the director and producer Zelia💚
Anyways this series is something that'll always make me comeback for it again and again...

Beautiful beautiful beautiful

This serie was a standout from dramas im watching, the natural landscapes, the visuals and unique cinematography was captivating and refreshing, it was relaxing watching it weekly

Storyline wise it was beautiful, the chemistry, how Nothing felt forced between actors, so natural, the intimacy was one of best i watched
QL the actors from shiny yet demanding world met CY, the 20 years old tea farmer, who is charming, caring and attentive, their love was heartwarming, the obstacles they faced were realistic And not out of plot conveniences, if i start with every details about their relationship this review will be long, so just watch them

The 2nd couple were an example of real couple on-screen and offscreen facing all brutal industry demands and standards, they were like a version Of QL and Shi Yuhao (the ex) but the difference these two worked all their problems and changed themselves to make their relationship work unlike how things went with QL and his ex

Sister Lan, a Centric character even when she left us quickly, her philosophy and the way she Handled things and took care of her artists was what made all her people stand strong, even after she left, she felt present till the end
QT, My shaylas whom's death was sudden, unexpected but thats what made it feel so real, we saw all his loved one grieve on their own way, he didn't get to be happy in life so i hope he is in peace💔😭😔

Anyway this is getting long, just watch this show if you enjoy slow beautiful storytelling and visuals
