Basically you can pay to read the chapter early but every week the translator will make one chapter free anyway so eventually the whole novel will become free.
If you cannot wait, I've heard that someone also translated the whole novel on wattpad, idk who tho.

I am much less interested personally in the series adaptation of the novel, as there are clearly "creative" differences that the production team has made. The novel, except for the BL tropes and situations, also covers the realistic Chinese culture with the different social classes. So, ignoring the tropes and BL situations, it is a cultural portrayal of the class differences in Chinese societies (including those of the Chinese diaspora).
Yes they really did cut off alot of scenes that genuinely would've been important in showing why mc is so timid, they should've shown the whole beginning of how ml's dad found them, conflicts between mc's parents, brother, sister and how mc is made unwanted and a loser between them, how the eldest brother is considered better only because he's a university student, how mc's wife treated him and most importantly, WHY mc is so attached to the ml. They skipped all of that and straight up showed the marriage. For me, in this aspect, the series seems lacking... I do like the thing between mc and ml which was very vague in the novel.
Have you ever considered how the story would change if Xiao Ping were "sold" to be Lu Xin's husband instead of Xiao Fan? How might this scenario affect Mr. Bei and Lu Qing, given that they would be dealing with Xiao Ping directly instead of his younger brother relaying the wishes of his mother and elder brother to the Bei family?
I feel like xiao ping wouldn't be able to get much done, compared to xiaofan as part of why luqing gives them everything is because of xiaofan. Xiao ping wouldn't get a single penny out of luqing.
And he would 100% be divorced and thrown out right after the miscarriage.
Also for some reason I'm unable to reply to your other post, so I guess I'll answer here: why I think mc is so attached to ml is because he's deprived of love, he feels unwanted everywhere, is looked down upon by everyone. Ml being the only person who doesn't do anything to him, makes him feel heard and safe. Bringing soup and cleaning his house is his way of getting rid of his guilt, as his family uses luqing alot and also because he wants be useful to luqing and not a burden.
And being his secret lover is the only way he can have some sort of close relationship with him. He can't be ml's friend, nor a normal brother in law (clearly he feels he's below ml's level so achieving any relationship is impossible) So whatever place he finds, he takes it.
Interesting take on the alternate scenario, @lian. I am quite familiar with Norwegian Americans as I made friends with them at university. The area where I attended university has a large population of descendants from Nordic nations and the Netherlands.
Interesting perspective on the alternate scenario, @lian. I don’t want to spoil the fantasy for those who are unfamiliar with East Asian culture and its interpretation of masculinity. It's worth noting that fantastical novels tend to sell better than factual anthropology books and ethnographic research papers.
That's cool, although my ethnicity is not Norwegian, I've lived here for years and I do adore this country and it's people.
I would like if you could recommend some east asian anthropology books, preferably for a beginner like me. I'd have to say, you got me really interested, also because I do consume a lot of East Asian content so doesn't hurt to know more.
