I'm a cisgender gay man with a bachelor's and master's degree from a state university in the USA. My primary interest lies in series and movies that are socioculturally and philosophically rooted in Chinese culture, although I also appreciate works from other East Asian cultures that reflect Confucian values.
I wish MDL would require members to identify their gender, educational attainment, and sexual orientation, and make this information available on their public profiles. This would help us decide whom we want to interact with. For example, a teenage girl in the eighth grade and an undergraduate senior woman will not have the same criteria for choosing a series or movie.
As of early 2025, many creators from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China have been posting cisgender gay content on social media platforms outside of China that I can access. Consequently, I may not visit this platform much anymore, as many of its vocally active members do not share my identity and interests. I rarely comment or interact with other members because I anticipate that we will interpret the same media through different lenses due to our gender, educational background, and levels of physical maturity.
I invite anyone who has worked in the entertainment or communication industry to connect with me so we can exchange our perspectives on the media we have watched. However, please identify yourselves by your gender and educational attainment before I interact with you.
