Two Cigarettes, Three Nights (2026)

Kanna, an illustrator living in Kyoto, is approaching her thirtieth birthday and feels a quiet sense of stagnation in her life. It has been years since she won an award for a picture book and briefly found herself in the spotlight. These days, she is worn down by unreasonable client work and spends her time drifting through routine and unfulfilling relationships. Kanna has always known that she can be selfish and awkward when it comes to relationships. However, she unexpectedly receives a phone call from Haseo, a male friend who, for reasons she has never fully understood, has always seemed to understand her deeply. The call leads to their first reunion in seven years. Sweet, bittersweet, and emotionally raw, their time together begins to move once more. Across Kyoto, Toyama, and Hiroshima, the “three nights” Kanna spends with Haseo, who treats her with the same warmth as he did years ago, gradually begin to change her life.
