Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me Episode 9

like they can do better i really believe that

this was a necessary break from the end±less loop of kohsaku running away from confrontation. this is a neutral way to go about gozyupolar’s crush on the teacher ，him having a heterosexual partner his age that he’s committed to steers us away from indulging in a potentially harmful relationship but it’s also running away from the weight of their power imbalance. it’s like whatever though that’s not really the story they’re going for which is whatever. mashiro & chasshiro are cute though i like that a lot ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆　　 ｡･:*:･ﾟ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ the supporting cast has been very fruitful for filling out this show because kohsaku cannot carry this. he was fun in the beginning but it’s just really tiring. i can’rt get into the relationship when we’re not making any progress.

You’re Writing BL, Suzuki—Read Your Own Romance!

Taking a Step Back, Determined to Move Closer

Suzuki writes BL stories, but understanding his own romance is another matter entirely! Convinced that Serizawa likes Takeuchi, he tries to step aside and help them spend time together. Meanwhile, his own writing stalls. Keeping busy with the school festival is much easier than facing how much he likes Serizawa.

I love the difference between their reactions. Suzuki retreats, while Serizawa, after briefly feeling discouraged by Suzuki’s claim that he likes nobody, decides he can make Suzuki fall for him. His optimism makes their misunderstandings much more enjoyable to watch.

The reconciliation with Matsuno also gives this episode a lovely moment beyond the romance. His apology acknowledges how he hurt Suzuki by joining in with the others, despite appreciating Suzuki’s honesty about what he loves. That simple feeling of recovering a lost friendship really stayed with me.

And when Suzuki discovers that Takeuchi likes someone else, he STILL wonders who Serizawa could possibly like. Come on, Suzuki—the answer is right there! 😂

For me, this has been the most enjoyable high-school BL of the season. The humor, romantic frustration, and friendship moments work so well together. One episode left, and I’m looking forward to seeing these two finally understand each other.
