At Takashi’s laboratory, Miyata comes face-to-face with his admired economist, Hibino Takaaki. Seeing it as a work opportunity, Miyata asks Hibino to write a serialized column, and the next day, he gets the chance to discuss it with him. Miyata is excited, but when Hibino visits his workplace, the thing that catches his interest is not Miyata’s proposal, but Miyata and Takashi’s relationship. Hibino then reveals that he and Takashi had been lovers for two and a half years. Faced with this suddenly appearing “high-spec ex-boyfriend,” Miyata finds himself growing increasingly jealous, even though he does not want to admit it. Meanwhile, Miyata attends an economics conference with Takashi and once again comes face-to-face with Hibino. Watching Takashi and Hibino engage in highly intellectual discussions, Miyata struggles to follow the conversation and painfully realizes the gap between himself and them. To make matters worse, Miyata overhears Hibino telling Takashi, “Miyata-kun isn’t worthy of you. Let’s get back together.” Can Miyata protect his love with Takashi in the face of the “ultimate ex-boyfriend”!? (Source: Japanese = MBS || Translation = kisskh)

Finally, a BL Where Adults Actually Communicate

Miyata is seriously so handsome and stunning, but jealous Miyata is on another level of adorable. “Come and cuddle me. Tighter.” My heart could not handle how cute that moment was. This is exactly why I love this drama so much. We have two mature men in their 30s who actually communicate with each other. Instead of letting jealousy and misunderstandings drag on forever, they lie in bed, cuddle, talk about their feelings and reassure each other. It feels so natural, intimate and refreshing to watch.Professor Hibino may be smart and highly educated, but deliberately trying to break Miyata and Iwanaga apart is definitely not ethical. What I absolutely loved, though, was Miyata’s reaction. We have seen countless BLs where an ex says they want the main lead back, the boyfriend accidentally overhears it, walks away without hearing the full conversation, makes assumptions and then we suffer through episodes of unnecessary misunderstandings. But not Miyata. He walked straight in and confronted Professor Hibino himself. YES! Finally! No running away, no silent assumptions, no unnecessary drama. He faced the situation directly because this relationship matters to him.It is so refreshing watching a BL where the characters actually behave like mature adults. Miyata being jealous was adorable, but the way he handled that jealousy made me love him and this drama even more.

EP.2 — The Love Iwanaga Truly Wants

Hibino believes that love should help two people grow intellectually and spiritually. From his perspective, Miyata cannot elevate Iwanaga, and he openly declares himself a better match for him. However, Hibino misunderstands what Iwanaga wants from love.Iwanaga is not looking for someone who will lead him to a higher place. The way he looks at Miyata makes that perfectly clear. He loves Miyata’s realism, his emotional awkwardness, and especially how incredibly insensitive he can be when it comes to romance.Miyata may feel threatened after learning about Iwanaga’s past with Hibino, but he still fails to recognize the most obvious truth: Iwanaga has already chosen him.Hibino offers a love built on mutual improvement, while Miyata gives Iwanaga a place where he can simply love and be loved. Both are valid forms of love—but only one of them makes Iwanaga look this happy.
