# Mission: Mompossible — Some Very Convenient Suspicion and Family Secrets

I'm currently watching *Mission: Mompossible* and am on episode 13. I want to make it clear that this review is only about pointing out a few flaws I've noticed so far. Otherwise, I'm enjoying the drama and will continue watching it.

My first and biggest annoyance is Granny Hwang Geum Sun. For some reason, she seems suspicious of her own son and daughter-in-law by default. What exactly have either of them done to deserve this level of suspicion? So far, the drama hasn't shown any convincing evidence to justify her behaviour. She simply acts as though everyone around her is hiding something.

Then there's her son, Cha In Seong, who comes across as an unusually low-confidence and somewhat awkward man for someone who owns a company. I understand that not every CEO needs to be a charismatic, commanding personality, but his behaviour makes me wonder how he manages to run a business in the first place.

And seriously, why are so many companies in these dramas built by elderly grandmothers? Apparently, South Korea has an endless supply of business tycoons who established their empires during or shortly after the Korean War. Considering how difficult life was for ordinary people during that period, you'd think every other grandmother had somehow received an elite business education and accumulated enough capital to build a corporate empire. At this rate, every neighbourhood granny in South Korea must have been a potential Lee Byung-chul, the founder of Samsung.

And, of course, Granny conveniently has Dr. Ju, who seems to moonlight as a secret investigator. Is he a doctor or a private detective? Because he certainly seems to be doing a lot more than treating patients.

I understand that the drama wants us to suspect CEO Jeon and wonder about her intentions. That's perfectly fine. The problem is how it goes about doing so. Instead of presenting actual evidence and allowing the audience to piece things together, it relies heavily on suspicious behaviour, strange reactions and convenient character interactions. The show practically waves a giant flag in our faces saying, *Look, this person is suspicious! Something is definitely going on!*

Suspense works best when the audience has reasons to question a character's motives, not when the writers simply make everyone behave suspiciously for the sake of creating mystery.

And this brings me to my biggest concern: the plot is already making some developments feel painfully predictable.

I already know that the female lead is the daughter of the very CEO Jeon who abandoned her. I also know that she was responsible for the car accident that killed the male lead's parents. Given the way these dramas usually operate, I can practically see the future breakup coming from a mile away. My prediction is that this revelation will eventually be used to separate the leads somewhere around episodes 80–100.

Then, because apparently emotional suffering alone isn't enough, the male lead will probably develop some deadly illness after episode 110. He will finally accept the female lead as his devoted companion or servant during his final days, only for the writers to pull out a miraculous cure around episode 119. Perhaps Granny's saliva will turn out to contain the ultimate medical breakthrough, and everyone will live happily ever after in episode 120.

Obviously, I'm exaggerating the last part for comedic effect, but that's the problem with some extremely long dramas: once you've watched enough of them, you start recognising the machinery behind the storytelling. The misunderstandings, tragic family connections, conveniently timed revelations, terminal illnesses and last-minute miracles become so familiar that you can almost write the remaining episodes yourself.

To be fair, I'm only on episode 13, and I'm not claiming that all these predictions will come true. I'm simply pointing out the patterns I'm beginning to recognise and the things that are already bothering me.

**Overall, I'm still enjoying *Mission: Mompossible* and will continue watching it.** These are just a few flaws that stood out to me, particularly the forced suspicion surrounding certain characters and the increasingly familiar melodramatic setup. I hope the drama manages to surprise me rather than simply following every predictable trope in the book.

previously i had given 7/10 but i change it to 2/10 because that granny feel like most evil person and how she treat her whole family
now days its new fashion to have evil grannies and still blame other for being evil.
