A man who has decided to end his life next Monday at 9:44 a.m. finds his plans unexpectedly disrupted when he discovers that his wife, Bo Ra, and her affair partner, Jang Seong Su, intend to murder him first. Their bizarre scheme—to lure him to Geoje Island, coat him in mackerel oil, and throw him into the sea as bait for cod—hits a deeply personal nerve because of his childhood trauma involving mackerel. As he argues against their absurd murder plot, Jang Seong Su casually reveals that he successfully killed his own wife the same way.
