Commander Charles assembles a team of five women from vastly different backgrounds to become allies of justice based entirely on the fact that their surnames include Japanese words for specific colors. His team “Joshizu” includes the overly serious career woman Red, the fashionable Blue, the wealthy heiress Navy, the dirt poor Yellow, and the aspiring theater troupe member Green. Together, they’re able to defeat opponents utilizing a special spinning move called the “Joshi Tornado”. In spite of their doubts, the team is abruptly thrown into a fight against a supervillain. A fun romp
Not much to say here, but this is a fun super-sentai/Power Ranger spoof that suffers from feeling too long, even at 97 minutes, and from bringing up and dropping multiple subplots. It's still a good time that's easy to recommend, with accessibility to both fans and non-fans alike, but it does have some glaring flaws upon deeper reflection. If this film were trimmed down to about 70 minutes, I could raise my rating to around 7.5/10Was this review helpful to you?
