'Moving Season 2': Disney+ original begins filming
The highly anticipated wuxia drama The Journey of Legend is premiering on September 11.
The Chinese drama tells the story of Xiao Ming Ming, who is a huge fan of martial arts novels, but his passion has been worn down by the tough realities of life. He experiences the martial arts world through the perspective of the protagonist of an online fantasy novel, Xiao Qiu Shui.
He starts off as a young swordsman who has little skill and is impulsive by nature, but gradually grows into a hero who upholds loyalty and protects his family and country.
After going through this adventurous journey, Xiao Ming Ming continues to write in his spare time, conveying through his novels the belief that people are united by righteousness.
Cheng Yi stars as Xiao Qiu Shui / Xiao Ming Ming, Gulnezer Bextiyar as Xiao Xue Yu, Eleanor Lee as Tang Fang, Xu Zhen Xuan as Liu Sui Feng, Liu Meng Rui as Song Ming Zhu, and Ding Xiao Ying as Zhao Shi Rong.
The Journey of Legend won multiple awards even before its release, such as the Most Anticipated Series awards at the 2024 iQIYI Membership Festival and the 2025 Starlight Awards, the Most Anticipated Series of 2025 award by The Beijing News, and the Most Anticipated Series of the Year award at the Kuyun Digital Entertainment Annual Influence Ceremony. In August 2025, the C-drama's reservations across platforms exceeded 9.5 million.
Previously, in May 2025, the show's actress, Eleanor Lee, was embroiled in a controversy in which she was accused of degrading Chinese people and the country in an audio recording reportedly released by her former assistant. The controversy escalated to the point that the actress filed a defamation lawsuit. The drama also faced the heat and was accused of "insulting Chinese people", which is reportedly the cause of the premiere's delay.
The production team announced strict legal action in response to the false claims. Eleanor Lee won the case for the violation of her right to protection of reputation in July, prior to which, on May 21, Lee's former assistant issued an apology, admitting that due to personal disputes, he maliciously edited and fabricated recording against the actress, and pledging never to commit such acts again.
