Lee Joo Bin comments on her new character transformation in Spring Fever.

Spring Fever follows Yun Bom (Lee Joo Bin), a teacher who moves from Seoul to the rural area of Sinsu, carrying scars that run deep, and Seon Jae Gyu (Ahn Bo Hyun), a popular guy in the village with a quirky charm and big heart.

In the drama, Lee Joo Bin plays Yun Bom, a mysterious high school teacher whom the townspeople get curious about. Blessed with natural flair, Yun Bom once enjoyed popularity and love in Seoul, but after a shocking incident, she shuts herself off emotionally and moves to a small provincial school.

Commenting on why she decided to take on the project, Lee said, "When I first read the script, I knew I could portray Yun Bom in an fun way, so I really wanted to take part," adding, "Since the filming location is a seaside village, I felt I'd be able to shoot happily every day, as if I were traveling."

Regarding her character, Lee Joo Bin said, "Yun Bom is a mysterious teacher who comes down to a rural school with her heart closed off. She seems calm on the outside, but she carries wounds and loneliness. Playing a multi-faceted character who carries darkness and light, I focused on delicately adjusting the emotional tone."

Taking on the role of a teacher for the first time, the actress shared, "To look natural in the classroom scenes, I practiced writing on the blackboard a lot. Since I had to write while delivering lines, I paid close attention to making my hand movements, my gaze, and the rhythm of my speech flow naturally. I also meticulously refined my manner of speaking and gestures so that my interaction with the students would feel like that of a real teacher [interacting with them]."

Keywords that best capture the character, according to Lee Joo Bin, are "a cat", "transparent", and "a principled person". She explained, "Bom is very wary at first, but if you give her your heart, she is very warm and affectionate. She thinks she hides her emotions, but they are revealed just as they are through her expressions and actions. This honesty is one of the charms that make Bom lovable."

She continued, "(Bom), despite her glamorous appearance, is conservative and places great importance on principles. I think it's a personality that suits the profession of an ethics teacher very well."

Lee Joo Bin added, "The chemistry among the actors is great. There were unexpectedly many action scenes, and Ahn Bo Hyun is very skilled at action, so I received a lot of help from him. Thanks to that, we were able to get through the tense scenes more smoothly," speaking about her rapport with her co-stars.

In closing, she described Spring Fever as a work filled with healing, laughter, and warmth, adding, "Watching this will warm your heart and bring small comforts and smiles. We hope you look forward to it with the same anticipation as you would for the spring."

Spring Fever premieres on January 5. The K-drama will be streaming on Prime Video.
