On April 20, iQIYI CEO Gong Yu announced that over a hundred artists have authorized the use of their likenesses for AI film and television productions.

Following this, a clip from Liu Yu Ning's interview from two months ago, where he spoke about the impact of AI on the film and television industry, resurfaced. The excerpt from that is as follows:

Did you know that when you use AI to search, it comes up with a lot of interesting related keywords? Have you ever tried searching for yourself?

No, I haven't — honestly, I've never done that before. But I do use a lot of AI tools — for music and film/TV.

I've also made an AI animated series after [just a] day of hard work.

Because I really enjoy researching cutting-edge technology — things like electronic products too. I just really like it. So when something like AI music comes out, I dive into studying it. I think with everything, you have to move with the times. You need to understand what's most popular right now.

Was the song "Not Going to School" also made with AI?

Of course. Yes.

But it sounds really good.

Exactly. That just shows how powerful AI is.

So, you don't mind AI-generated music?

Of course I don't mind.

Do you feel like it's taking away your job?

Whether it takes our jobs or not, that's another matter.

But this is the trend of the times. It's impossible to stop the future, and you can't keep clinging to the old ways.

Think about it. AI has already [advanced to this extent]. No one knows what the film and TV industry will look like in a year.

So you really can't see clearly what the future market will be. You don't even know what will be meaningful for you to do. So from now on, if I'm choosing projects, I might need to avoid things that AI can already do and consider [the capability of] AI — and whether what I do is something that can't be replaced.

Then what do you think you have that AI absolutely can't replace?

Nothing. I think humans should never be so confident as to believe they're so exceptional that no one — or nothing — can replace them.
