Shin Seung Ho shares character insights and why he chose 'Final Interview'
Netflix has released poster and teaser for its new occult series The East Palace.
The East Palace tells the story of Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who has the ability to cross between the human world and the world of spirits, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady who harbors a secret. Summoned by the King (Cho Seung Woo), the two set out to uncover the cursed palace's secrets.
The poster depicts the "spirit catcher" Gu Cheon standing solemnly with a sword in hand inside a palace shrouded in dark clouds. The collapsed stone lanterns, scattered vines as if melted by a curse, and the ominous energy surrounding them hint at the kind of place the "spirit world" that Gu Cheon crosses between is.
The teaser opens with Gu Cheon being summoned into the palace. As the king calls Gu Cheon into the palace, Gu Cheon senses deep resentment and lingering grudges throughout. He then declares, "I will go into the Realm of Gwi and seek the spirits out," and, to eliminate the vengeful spirits, he steps through a pond and crosses into the spirit world.
In a world on the other side where a dark aura of blood surges, Gu Cheon swings his sword and warns, "Those who sin are punished eventually."
Meanwhile, Saeng Gang, the palace maid in the real world, is shown smearing blood on her forehead, while mysterious phenomena faced by the King and the Queen Dowager (Jang Young Nam) are intercut, heightening tension.
Amid the palace's brutal curse, curiosity mounts about whether they can survive and uncover the secrets hidden in the darkness.
The East Palace will premiere exclusively on Netflix on July 17. Watch the teaser here.
