Hyun Bin, Jung Woo Sung, Woo Do Hwan dish on their 'Made In Korea Season 2' characters
On June 22, the production team behind Netflix's upcoming original series The East Palace unveiled its first set of stills, capturing the palace's beautiful and eerie vibe and the intricately intertwined stories of its characters.
The East Palace tells the story of Gu Cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who has the ability to cross between the human world and the world of spirits, and Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady who harbors a secret. Summoned by the King (Cho Seung Woo), the two set out to uncover the cursed palace's secrets.
The stills capture a series of mysterious incidents happening in the palace. One image contrasts the King's desperate expression as he holds his son, Prince Yeongan (Jo Dan), close, with another showing him exuding a chilling, commanding presence as he forces Gu Cheon, the famous "spirit catcher," to kneel before him. This raises intrigue about the King's true motives for summoning Gucheon to the palace, despite his refusal to believe in curses and ghosts.
The looks of Gu Cheon and Saeng Gang, who embark on a mission to investigate the curse under the King's orders, also command attention. Gu Cheon, with a rope tied around his neck as he walks into a pond, and Saeng Gang, drawing a bowstring, heighten the tension.
Gu Cheon's fierce gaze as he stands in the spirit realm, engulfed in a crimson aura, and Saeng Gang concentrating intently on the sounds of spirits, signal the beginning of the mysterious events the two will soon face.
The eerie atmosphere woven throughout the stills hints at a nerve-racking plot.
The East Palace will premiere exclusively on Netflix on July 17.
