Shin Ye Eun dishes on her character in 'Doctor on the Edge'

Doctor on the Edge has unveiled new stills featuring Shin Ye Eun.

Doctor on the Edge is a medical drama that depicts the story of public health doctor Do Ji Ui (Lee Jae Wook), who arrives on Pyeondongdo, an island no one wants to go to, and the secretive nurse Yook Ha Ri (Shin Ye Eun).

In the K-drama, Shin Ye Eun plays Yook Ha Ri, a nurse with many secrets who returns to her hometown of Pyeondong.

Her sunshine smile hints not only at the qualities of a warm and attentive "angel nurse" who stays by patients' sides but also at her easygoing and cheerful personality. 

At the same time, her troubled and worried expression heightens curiosity about her secret as she suddenly leaves a prestigious university hospital and returns to her hometown.

Shin Ye Eun shared, "The theme of a public health doctor felt very unique, and all of the residents of Pyeondong were charming and multidimensional. I felt that the warm episodes depicting the laughter they create and the way they heal one another would resonate with many viewers."

She also described her character by saying, "She's someone who is so full of love that she could even come across as overly meddlesome, yet at the same time she's gentle and strong." She added, "I wanted to blend the qualities I have with Ha Ri’s charms to create a character viewers would love."

She continued, "Ha Ri is a character who shows a wide range of emotions in a short span of time and whose emotional shifts need to come across strongly. I focused on portraying those different emotions harmoniously and on not losing sight of Ha Ri's emotional arc."

Shin Ye Eun concluded, "I wanted to portray the warmth and professional skill of a real nurse. I sought advice, asked questions, watched related videos, and listened to real-life experiences to get closer to understanding the profession."

Doctor on the Edge will premiere on June 1 and will be available on Disney+ (select regions).
