According to local media, Kung Fu Soccer, directed by Stephen Chow and starring Zhang Xiao Fei, Dilraba Dilmurat, Ai Mi, and others, had surpassed 1.1 billion yuan (approx. 162.4 million USD) at the Chinese box office (including presales) as of the morning of July 18.

Kung Fu Soccer was released on July 11. The film surpassed 100 million yuan (approx. 14.7 million USD) at the box office on its opening day.

In response, the film's official Weibo account posted a congratulatory message:

"Cumulative box office surpasses 1.1 billion yuan! Charging ahead with unstoppable momentum, living up to every bit of passion, and giving it our all! Thank you for every moment — both on and off the screen — when no one gave up!"

Additionally, the film's official Weibo account released a video of Stephen Chow from a promotional tour, in which he is seen interacting with moviegoers.

Blending Shaolin kung fu with soccer, Kung Fu Soccer follows China's women's soccer team, the Emei Team, as they compete in the "Supreme Invincible Cup." Initially underestimated, the team reorganizes, and through the relentless efforts of captain Shuang Shuang, striker Yu Long, and their martial arts grand-uncle Xu Feng, they shine on the pitch, defy the odds, and ultimately fight their way to the championship.

In June 2023, Stephen Chow announced on social media that the first draft of the screenplay had been completed and launched a worldwide casting call for actresses. From the announcement of the completed first draft to the film's official wrap, the production spanned two years.
