Just one day after its release, My Daughter Is a Zombie has already broken several records.

On July 31, the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing network revealed that the thriller-comedy film My Daughter Is a Zombie garnered 430,101 moviegoers in South Korea on its premiere day, July 30. The movie now holds the record for the best opening day of 2025 and has become the all-time biggest opener for a Korean comedy film.

My Daughter Is a Zombie defeated Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, surpassing its 2025 opening day count of 423,892 moviegoers. It also broke the all-time opening record for a Korean comedy film, previously held by Extreme Job led by Ryu Seung Ryong, Lee Ha Nee, Jin Seon Kyu, Lee Dong Hwi, Gong Myung, and Shin Ha Kyun since 2019. Extreme Job recorded an opening day of 368,582 moviegoers in 2019.

Jo Jung Suk has cemented his title as "Summer Box Office King" with this result. Following the success of his previous summer hits, 2019's Exit and 2024's Pilot, My Daughter Is a Zombie is now expected to be another major box office success.

There's growing anticipation that the film will also surpass 10 million moviegoers.

My Daughter Is a Zombie tells the story of an animal trainer father determined to protect his daughter, who has become a zombie but still vaguely understands human speech and reacts to her favorite things. The film will base its story on the webtoon of the same name by  Lee Yoon Chang.

Jo Jung Suk, Lee Jung Eun, Cho Yeo Jung, Yoon Gyung Ho, and Choi Yu Ri will lead the upcoming film.

Director Pil Gam Seong, who also created the K-drama A Bloody Lucky Day and the film Hostage: Missing Celebrity, will helm the new movie.

My Daughter Is a Zombie premiered in Korean theatres on July 30, 2025.
