LOL! same thinking. It started with Eternal Love basically…. The one with Yang Mi and Mark Chao… and the subsequent one with Dilraba and Vengo Gao….

but this 3W3L thing really wears you down while you are watching it though.… I mean it’s fine the first few dramas coz it’s kinda of a new concept, but after that it’s just so taxing mentally…. Coz it’s basically like cramming 3 dramas in one…. You get like new characters with the same leads and you need to get to know them all over again…..… 

No, it actually has classic origns. But the drama was the first to use it and since then everyone uses it.

The idea of "三生" (three lives) comes from Buddhism and Daoist folklore, reffering to reincarnation and karmic ties over past, present and future lives. 

But honestly, even if it has classical origins or whatnots, it has most definitely been overused…. They basically killed all curiosity one would have with regards to it….
