I absolutely adore bounprem and had my eye on this project ever since they announced it (even before gmm took it on) and with boun having like a pretty big say in this I expected it to be more...dark.

Actually, not just more "dark", in general I expected more.

It's not bad by any means and the first episode was pretty dark and ended on a great cliffhanger (the sacrifice scene was amazingly directed!) but then the following episodes pivoted away from the horror elements which was a shame.

EDIT: apparently i hadn't watched ep 3/4 yet...my bad folks ignore the strike through as i watch and will adjust

I would've loved a bit more world building, blood sacrifices and character building! Character building is so important to me. We are 4 episodes in and I actually know nothing about Punn and therefore...I don't really care about him. Instead the script is trying to capitalise on the 'chemistry' between BP and distract us from the flat characters. And it's not fair because there is a lot of potential.

For example, they told us that Punn has a younger brother but then didn't talk about it at all for 3 eps. What happened during their time in foster care that has made them like this? Why does Punn own an antique shop? I think this could've been divided better over the episodes.

On another note, I think Boun has improved in his acting - his soft side is amazing and it's so straightforward compared to Win in 'UWMA/Between Us'! Of course it does make one wonder: how cute can a vampire be? Can you really in good conscience start to fangirl over a monster that's batting its eyes at you and drinking blood - not human blood but still it's raw blood? The answer for me is probably yes.

We've had Emo Edward for 10+ years and I'm sick of it, give me this adorable fk vampire who loves being a vampire and who loves falling in love with this destined human soulmate.

But I don't feel the same about Prem. It's like Noeul in BNW all over again where Noeul is typecasted and it just doesn't work. Of course I'm not being completely fair here. Noeul also had a shitty script so that's not on him. Prem on the other hand, does not have that excuse (yet. If things keep going the way they are we might be in for an episode 11 curse amirite?)

All in all, to me it seemed like GMM didnt want to fully commit to the horror elements and accidentally scare away their potential audience and sponsors etc. so they made the series more 'palatable' and are trying to use BP's name and reputation to attract an audience (which is not a new trick) to the detriment of the story.

I will still watch it and hopefully things will start to look up again!

What are your thoughts? Do you agree/disagree?

Boun has already mentioned that he didn't want the series to be a super dark vampire story – he wanted humor in it. And honestly, that's exactly what we got, and I love it! Sure, there are a few things that bother me about the series, but now that I am writing this I can't even think of any, haha. For it being New’s first drama of this kind, I think it's a really solid one, and I am proud of him for giving it a try!

When it comes to Prem, I think people should pay more attention to the details, because Punn and Prem are actually very similar. If you look closely, you can see Punn taking small steps back whenever he gets "scared" by Ramil, and little things like that. I think Prem is doing an amazing job – he plays a character who keeps everything bottled up inside without ever really confronting it, and he pulls that off so well!

Thanks for your comment! I'll pay closer attention :)

Of course i loved BP chemistry etc. and i look forward to what else will unravel :)
