Hello.  I find that, as a viewer who is not literate in the Mandarin language, my appreciation for the The First Frost increased exponentially after having translated and converted the songs to be sung in English.  I'm wondering if someone has already performed this effort.  Please let me know.  Thank you.

Learning songs is always an enjoyable and sometimes powerful way to learn languages. It also helps connect with native speakers if you know and can sing along their favorite or national songs.  Of course, it is better to know the meanings and layered meanings. Peachey Blossom does a wonderful job in translating many OST and sometimes non OST songs, although it can be interesting to compare with other translations, including if you speak other languages (Bahasa Indo or other) the translations offered by other MV makers.  If you are interested in digging into further cultural meaning, you could look at Tempest Jun's channel on YouTube, where translations come with comments ; the songs there are more mainstream c-pop, but very famous and enjoyable to listen to and to sing.  Here is a sample : Xiāo /Brave 骁  (Jing twins most famous song about wuxia and jianghu) or that one Cáo Cāo 曹操 (JJ Lin song about The Three Kingdoms epic and famous general).

Or some cover songs by multilingual Shania Yan, such as this one : Wǒmen bù yīyàng 我们不一样 (we are not the same), which has another interesting translated MV version from the original singer on the channel of Formosan Mandarin : this channel is very interesting because it both has the simplified mainland and traditional characters, so you can compare and learn some correspondences of the two writings.  All the other channels I pointed to above have the simplified Hanzi, but the translations are not word to word, so some work is needed from the non putonghua speakers to find what each character means. To dig further, at your leisure, you can use an app like Pleco to get many meanings for a character and sample uses, or if you want to go faster you can find some songs broken down to explain words and sentences, in channels such as SysMandarin.  -- In addition, this explanation of Women bu yiyang  uses colors on MV to point out where each word is placed in the different languages : that's useful, because sometimes, it does not follow the same order as in an English sentence. 

So what are the most famous songs learners ought to know?  Here is my short list  (linked to lyrics MV with translations or full fledged explanations)

* Péngyǒu 朋友 (explanation)   ;  

* Lǎoshǔ ài dà mǐ 老鼠爱大米 (explanation) ;  

* Tónghuà 童话/ Fairy Tale (explanation) ;

* Hǎojiǔ bùjiàn 好久不见 (好久不見) / Long time no see (explanation) ; 

* Míngtiān huì gèng hǎo 明天会更好/Tomorrow will be better ; 

* Qīnghuācí / 青花瓷 /Blue and White Porcelain, a song from Jay Chou ; 

* Wǒ hé wǒ de zǔguó 我和我的祖国  My Motherland and I (some explanation) ;  

* Wǒ de zǔguó 我的祖国 (the song from the Korean war movie, reused in flash mob in 2020 :) and here with young celebs (first is folk singer, Wang Lida, but you might recognize next actor Zhang Ruoyun from Joy of Life, .., Joseph Zeng, Wei Yun Xi, ...actress Li Qin and more + this version with lyrics in Hanzi, pinyin, and English translation.

I'll add some different songs :

*  Chì líng  赤伶 (Blood Actor /Red opera singer - there are different translations for the title) a famous song from HITA with some musical lines from Chinese opera! (here is a male cover by Indonesian singer Bodokun ;)

* Danheng IL Theme Song《Samudrartha》水龙吟 Male Cover ver. 【from the game Honkai: Star Rail】

* Zài jiānà gònghéguó líhūn 在加纳共和国离婚 (Divorce in the Republic of Ghana) a hit Internet song that was added on the Weibo of 2025 "Feud" drama, by the leads, Bai Lu and Joseph Zeng. Just to stay up to date with most recent hits! (The original singer is a Malaysian named Feidao'er but the song is now more famous than the singer!)

Indeed it is not an exact translation, I think Peachey's is closer. ... Suggesting : "Coaxing you, by your side" (for "accompanying you", not "guiding you"), "Your willfulness swept me to you" ("I once loved your willfulness": the "once" is from the past, so "swept' rather than "sweeps").  Anyway, there's not much to frown upon, no serious harm done, and you can freely apply poetic licence if you want to have your "own version". There are many different translations for poems or songs, and it is interesting to witness how a text resonates with someone through his/her interpretation. Kudos for your effort!

 OST songs are not so precious as revered Táng poetry (well, I still very much like Rèn Jiālún's or Luó Yúnxī's versions of Bǎi Jūyì's famous poem "Pípá xíng" 琵琶行).  The lyrics can totally be toyed with for translations, but I am immensely grateful to Peachey for the MVs of OST songs spreading interest to the music beyond Chinese borders!  Or to others for game songs or mandopop translations. Sometimes I notice typos on some MVs. There is a nice MV for Lǎoshǔ ài dà mǐ with drawings of a pair of young people under a tree, in black and white, but the pinyin has a glaring mistake in second line: "ganjie" instead of "gǎnjué", so it is not perfect for learners, besides which it does not have tone marks on the pīnyīn and worse, no Hànzì to check the writing. Chinese speakers don't read texts in pīnyīn normally, and it is mostly foreigners who use it on computers or apps to get the Hànzì on screen, or as a quick fix to sing or read aloud.  But it is important to at least try to read and recognize the printed Hànzì...  handwritten is yet at another level (my own handwriting is awful, sigh).
