Detailed analysis of the characters - my subjective take ;)

 Kate:

Not every person who grew up abused or neglected turns into abuser or an asshole 🥲 He kept making choices even as an adult that made him worse and worse human being. By now, he should take responsibility for himself and start improving. 

I, myself, was abused when I was younger by someone in my family. I won't say who, because it still hurts to this day, but I will say it wasn't my parents or siblings. That proves your first statement because I'm closer to Seong Hyeon in certain aspects.

 Kate:

I am so sorry to hear about your part. Hope you were able to cope with it and I hope with time you will only get better and it will hurt you less and less. 

I was 11 when it happened, and I still blame myself for it, but life goes on and I'm much better than I have been in the past few years.
