LotusRayne:

Thanks for the detailed explanation!

I'm just wondering. Are there any authors or novels within the genre which have a heavy emphasis or even an exclusive focus on the world-setting/ political side of things? I don't mind if this is at the expense of romance, even. Desire caught my attention for its unique setting and world-building, and I love the author's creativity here. The ABO virus and the business subplot really caught my attention in the first episode, what can I say?

I think I read somewhere in the comments that the author wrote the story as she couldn't find many stories with intricate world-building (it's been a few days, so the comment is long buried now lol). Just curious if there are any like that since she wrote the novel (if not, I'd be somewhat tempted to try my hand at writing one like that myself).

This is a fanfic (an omegaverse Merlin fanfic, at that) on AO3, and it was left unfinished for years, until there was a chapter more or less tying up the story this year. But it explores a lot of the omegaverse dynamic pretty in-depth from a sociological perspective, which I haven't seen done in the same way anywhere else (though granted, I'm not a very voracious reader of omegaverse). Anyway, this is the link: Heart in a Headlock

Thank you for the links.  I appreciate you taking the time to supply them.❣️

this is interesting but where does free will come into these interactions?

for example from this summary it seems the aggressive alphas can dominate the ones they are "attracted" to and even put a bite on them so they own them like a slave as they cannot interact with anyone else、

from the same example  what free will do the alphas have if their attraction is driven by reaction to pheromones occuring during random periods it seems。

is this alternative universe simply deterministic?

I have only watched episode one、 these questions occur to me only in reaction to the summary。

Yes, it's very deterministic and gender essentialistic when it comes to the secondary genders. Alphas are always stronger, faster, more dominant, usually more intelligent too. They usually have leading positions. Omegas are usually weaker, softer, more submissive. Though bear in mind that every author will have different settings for the world and the ABO dynamic. I've seen settings where Omegas are rare and powerful, and settings where they are basically powerless and lowest of the low. And not every setting will have mpreg, either. As for free will, it's part of the setting that Omegas have heats that make them so horny that they can't resist, and very often (but not always) Alphas have ruts that affect them in a similar way. Exactly what that entails can also vary.

That differs from omegaverse story to omegaverse story. Some of them are about wolf shifters (or other were-animals), but many are about humans that for some reason or other have evolved into having the secondary ABO genders, with no other animal characteristics beyond that. It's a fantasy setting, or like in this case, a sci-fi setting.

LMAO im sorry but i misread 'wolf shifters' as 'wolf shitters' and just about died

have a nice day!

Thank you very much for this! I’m so enjoying ABO Desire at the moment, it is my first time watching an Omegaverse story and I love it 🥰

 ColourMePurple:

So these are non-humans characters?

Most of the omegaverse stories I’ve read there Evolution is explained that they evolved this way because of some kind of devastating or catastrophic event to the population.  Also, most omegaverse stories are reverse harem where it’s usually one omega to multiple alphas.

I've seen some stories like that but most of the ones I've read were 1v1 (alpha + omega)

Are there any other movies and dramas (besides this one) that are based on the Omegaverse?

Not any live action, IIRC there might be anime. Thai BL series PitBabe claimed to be omegaverse, but they kind of backtracked on that and did a verrry watered-down interpretation (eg there were no omegas), although PitBabe fans may disagree. Another Thai production company has just announced a real omegaverse series, though, but we don't know much more about it than the casting (Boat and Oat from My Stubborn) and what we could gather from the teaser, which was more about vibes and the setting than any plot. The current project title is KNOT. Which is... a choice 😂

Apparently, Not a movie, but series called midnight Fortune, was announced a couple years ago and was supposed to be omegaverse . I don’t even think it got into the airing phase as a couple months after it was announced they cancelled it. I guess they cited concerns about public sentiment at the time in how we received.

This helped a lot. I was confused during 1.st episode. Thank you. :)
