their world is definitely more unsafe than our world. they do have Omegaverse rights and can sue in cases of abuse, as long as there’s proof. the doctor mentioned that to Gao Tu because he thought Gao Tu’s alpha partner was abusing him. Gao Tu later said something similar to Shen before giving his resignation letter ,about not crossing the line.
still, the laws aren’t that much effective, especially when pheromone ruts and heats come into play. things can get complicated when no one is in their right state of mind due to biological reactions.
the duration and frequency of heats/ruts depend on the author , in some content its once a month, in other content its every three months, lasting three days to a week. Characters with unstable conditions or mate seeking syndrome can experience longer, more frequent, or unpredictable cycles (like HY’s random rut in episode 9, or Gao Tu’s due to physical strain) and it can be more unbearable.
when fights break out between Alphas or Enigmas, others usually run for safety or call the authorities, staying is dangerous, even if they dont get physical with you their scent can be suffocating when angry.
permanent marking is a huge deal , it’s more binding than marriage, its a marriage that has no divorce. In most Omegaverse content, the mark can’t be undone; in few others it can but it’s described as extremely painful, like losing a part of yourself. Because of that bond, cheating becomes nearly impossible ,their bodies and pheromones instinctively seek only their mate . also the other scents might become repulsing and not attractive to them
permanent marking is also a big deal to them as they have animal instincts and love to them is more intense than in the real life, alphas think of it as a claim to their omegas so that any other alphas which are a threat will get turned off once they realise the omega is bonded to an alpha and that they dont have a chance in case they felt attracted to the omega.
in some content, some omegas ask their alpha friend to shower them with their scent (neck area) for protection while this one is not a permanent mark its just temporal, if some alphas are bothering them then they smell a different alpha's scent on them they think the omega already have an alpha and back off, omegas also do that when they dont want to deal with no one etc HY has done that to Sheng when he come home drunk with lingering omega smell so he felt the need to change that and make him smell like him.
the Omegaverse is built on hierarchy, dominance, and intense emotions where obsession and love often overlap. For example, Sheng wasn’t offended by HY’s long term obsession; he was pleased knowing HY had his eyes on him since he was a kid and saw it as dedication and love, Sheng loves HY's craziness over him ,but of course he disapproved of the deception because no one want to look like a fool.
their world operates on different rules from ours, so I try not to judge it by real world standards but by how it works within their own universe.
