The King’s Warden

왕과 사는 남자 ‧ Movie ‧ 2026

At the end of movie, there’s a scene with only Korean text. Can anyone help translate what it says or explain what they wrote about?

Have you found the translation?

They are different historical records on which the story of the film is based.

The first one is:

"A court attendant who had long served Prince Nosan volunteered for the task. He tied a long rope to the bowstring and pulled it tight through the gap behind the seat. That year, Yi Hong Wi was only seventeen. (Records of the Yeollyeosil, Annals of King Danjong)"

The second one is:

"When Prince Nosan was killed, no one dared tend to his body. A local official, Eom Heung Do, went to mourn him, personally prepared a coffin, and buried him. The present)day royal tomb stands on that very site. (Annals of King Hyeonjong, Year 10, January 5)"

The third one is:

"Despite many trying to stop him, Eom Heung Do said: "To uphold righteousness and suffer misfortune is something I willingly accept, not something I fear." (Biographical Records of the Jose Dynasty)"

And then there is a context note:

"241 years later, Yi Hong Wi was restored as King Danjong, and Eom Heung Do, recognised for his loyalty, was posthumously honoured as Lord Chungui."

"Today their graves stand together in Yeongwol."
