aka If I think a drama is trashy, why can't I trash it?

I seem to be obsessed with this drama (am I turning into Chang Xuan?) to the point that I can't stop writing about any and all aspects of it. Or maybe I just like to argue . . . I mean discuss.

I'd have to be oblivious to not see that there are very real haters in the comments, people who are more interested in telling others what horrible people they are for liking a ML who r*pes FL (he didn't). That's the extreme. But there are others who genuinely found this drama and the ML problematic. At first I defended the ML, but gradually I started realizing that many commenters raised very good points.

I've had quite a few discussions revolving around some of these issues with various commenters, but everything gets lost in the fast-moving comment section so I wanted to bring everything into one place for ease of discussion. Maybe nobody will respond (I've had that happen before so I'll try not to expect too much) or maybe there will be a fun discussion. At any rate I can at least keep this as a reminder of some of the questions I've had as I watched and commented on this drama.

Whether you loved, hated or had mixed feelings about The Lament of Autumn I hope you'll feel free to respond if you want to without worrying about getting attacked, at least by me. When I create a discussion I try to be very respectful of any viewpoints no matter whether I agree with them or not.

What is a hater?

What is constructive criticism?

Are commenters/reviewers obliged to give constructive criticism?

What is the difference between constructive criticism and hate?

Are people allowed to think a drama is trashy and trash that drama?

How do you define trashing a drama?

How far does commenting/reviewing a drama have to take context into account?

Do you take everything into account when you review a drama (i.e. cinematography, music, storyline, acting) or do one or more of these or other parts of the drama invalidate the entire drama for you?
