When the final episode of Hello 1983 faded to black, reading the comments and messages on the screen, I suddenly realized that it was truly time to say goodbye to Xia Xiaolan — the resilient, clear-headed girl who kept striving and fighting for her future.

The first time I opened the script, I couldn’t stop reading for a long time… I still remember the moment when she arrived in 1983 and started her life over. She shattered the rumors with her own hands, slowly learned how to fit into an unfamiliar family, and always believed that knowledge could change one’s destiny. Together with her, I experienced countless precious moments. I came to understand her stubborn determination to keep winning even when it hurt. Watching her move forward step by step, she always carried the words “My future is not a dream” deep in her heart, carefully walking every step of her life. Happy new year, happy birthday, happy entrepreneurship… I hope Xiaolan is happy every day. Even if life has two sides, she will turn the gears with her own hands and write the foreshadowing of her destiny into the best years of her life.

During the time we spent together, I was moved again and again by Xiaolan’s courage, resilience, and sincerity, and healed by her spirit time after time. Thank you, President Xia, for letting me experience such an exhilarating golden era of reaching the peak of life. Thanks to all the partners of Hello 1983, both in front of and behind the camera. And sincere thanks to every one of you in front of the screen who walked through this passionate journey with us. The road ahead has just begun. Don’t be confused, don’t be afraid —because your “egg” is big!!
