Perfect Crown

21세기 대군부인 ‧ Drama ‧ 2026

The series is truly top class and has everything you could ask for: a strong and exciting story set in a modern fictional world. The lead actors have incredible chemistry, and every supporting role feels perfectly cast. You can really tell that the production succeeded in creating a balance between romance, suspense, humor, and that constant feeling of longing that keeps you wanting more.

But – and this is my biggest criticism – I really wanted to see even more of the love story. Especially more flashbacks showing how everything started, but also more romance in the present timeline. I would have loved to see their relationship develop further in the present day, with more scenes together where their love could truly grow and take center stage. That is something the series is missing. A little more intimacy, hidden feelings, stolen glances, and romantic moments would have elevated the story even more. Twelve episodes simply do not feel like enough once you become emotionally invested in the characters and their relationship.

I also have to say that IU and Byeon Woo-seok are fantastic actors. They have a very special presence together, and his facial expressions whenever you can see that he is deeply in love with her without wanting to reveal it are incredibly well acted. Steve Noh also delivers a very strong performance. I have seen him in several other roles, and he always brings something memorable to the screen. The casting overall feels extremely well thought out.

The locations and cinematography are beautiful, and the series has a very polished and luxurious atmosphere. However, I am not completely convinced by his blazers that are supposed to work as modern uniforms.

They look stylish, but they do not always feel like his character’s natural style. I also think she did not always
get the best styling or outfits.

Still, the story itself is a genuine love story where you never doubt that they belong together. At the same time, something is missing for it to receive a perfect score — perhaps more emotional depth in the romance and more scenes allowing the feelings to fully unfold. Even so, the series still managed to make me tear up several
times.

Perfect Crown feels like one of the strongest dramas of 2026, especially after a period where we have not had that many truly memorable dramas. It delivers beautiful settings, talented and attractive actors, an engaging
storyline, and all the classic ingredients: villains who still have a heart, painful relationships, suspense, and
emotional moments. It is a series that could have been even better with more episodes and a stronger focus on the romance, but it still succeeds in being both captivating and unforgettable.
