Taiga practices his kanji in the hospital. Writing = healing. Also, notice the warm yellow lighting in the shot.

This is very sad because the student is burning with resentment that Manami hasn't been ruined by Taiga. Both the student and Manami are dressed alike which would suggest they are essentially the same person but Manami stands in a beam of sunlight.

This is like lying inception: Taiga lies to Manami, she knows it but goes along with it anyway, Taiga figures out she knows but both of them keep the lie going to the end of the call. They aren't ready to be together yet. But their tie isn't severed either. Also aieeeeeeeeeee 😭💔

Unexpected plot twist: Manami is moving out and the changes that have already taken place inside her are affecting her entire family. The house is flooded with sunlight, her mother is wearing yellow and her father looks a lot more frail. But Manami still has growing to do (notice the half-down hair)

Meanwhile changes are happening for Taiga too but he feels a bit behind Manami at this point. Rather than choosing to leave The Joker, it's the manager who tells him to leave. Also, this dude is totally going to turn out to be Taiga's father, yes?

Manami chooses to put Taiga's hat away in the closet with her childhood dolls as if he's something that she needs to outgrow. But Taiga keeps Manami's hat with him at all times. Who's doing the right thing: Manami for trying to move forward into adulthood or Taiga for keeping his feelings for her close to his heart?

 Car park:

Wow, all the catches above are wonderful, thank you!!...many things that I missed, especially the hat things! And the madonna.  Basically everything lol.  Wow.  I noticed the train plays a prominent roll, the bar goes down and red lights flashing, and trains going opposite where she is going, and finally when she breaks away from Daddy, she's going in the direction of the train.  Someone pointed out in Ep 9, taiga rolls off a wall and the noise makes a sound like train tracks.

I really appreciate your comments but I have a request: please don't mention anything that happens in episodes after 7 even if it's a small detail. I know it's hard not to when you're excited about the show but I'm trying to have a space to discuss the show without worrying about getting spoiled and I'm sticking to watching on Netflix. Thank you!

I agree with you that she's a terrible friend but I'd bet money , Momoko goes  with Tsubasa.

Ooh that's an intriguing thought. I thought she was going to hire him to be a reporter.

That scene in the Joker where she says to Tsubasa , "show me what u got" and he grabs her and tells her he likes he. Look at her face. She was definitely turned on and even though she denies feeling anything, she and he both sit closer together  after that with his arm around her. She definitely has the hots for him and I think he feels the same. She is such a hypocrite.  She calls Taiga a "mere " host in an earlier episode.  She gives Manami that speech in this episode about Taiga being experienced in make-believe romances and that she  is the one who has been fooled and is going to lose everything.  She fails to tell Manami about seeing her mother confronting Taiga at the club which i find very suspect. If it was my bestie, i woukd have called her right away. Worst of all, when Manami starts to get upset , she shoves thst can of cold beer against her face to make her shut up. Who does that to a friend? Especially , after Manami tells her she needs to talk. The only one that allows Manami to express all her feelings( even anger, her chihuahua side) is Taiga. With friends like Momoko, who needs enemies?

@Parisatmidnight I completely agree that Momoko was turned on but she already took one boyfriend from Manami.  Fiance says he can tell Momoko anything, it feels like he's developing feelings for her and when she told him to break up with Manami it felt like she was low-key setting the stage for herself to move in without having to feel guilty about it (even though she should because she's awful for every reason you listed)

I just have to jump in here and defend Momoko, or at least share how I see her. She gives Manami tough love, but I think it's hard as a parent/guardian/established familiar person in someone's life to not be alarmed when someone is possibly being "scammed." You just don't know, and you want to err on the side of caution--at first. Don't forget that Manami was also keeping her meetings from Momoko a secret in the beginning

I also think Momoko telling Kawahara to dump Manami was certainly *not* about setting the stage for herself. I think she knew that Kawahara was not right for Manami, and she knows Manami well enough to know that she wouldn't go crazy and stalk him. It was her way of ending the two, sarcastically and smartly.

Another important part where she shows her support to Manami is when she is the first to call after their fight and tell Manami that the club might not be a safe place for Kaoru due to the club president's past, because she knows Manami is starting to care for Kaoru.  She is still looking out for Manami after all that.

It's deeply messed up that Momoko told Kawahara to break up with Manami even if she did it because she thought Manami would be better off out of the relationship. It's an incredibly disrespectful thing to do to your closest friend who's an adult and should be able to make decisions about her own life without her friend making those decisions for her. It's not very different from Manami's parents making decisions without asking her first because they think they know better than her.

In episode 5 when Momoko goes to the club and tells Kaoru she's worried about Manami, he says "You're not worried, you're just bored and trying to pass the time" and she looks chagrined as if he caught her feeling something she wasn't aware of herself.

Also, Momoko doesn't tell Manami she saw her mother at the club, she's inconsistent in what she hides and reveals.

I just don't think Momoko is trustworthy and I don't think she really has Manami's best interests at heart.
