What Are Contribution Points And How Do You Earn Them?

Good evening everyone, it is nearly half past nine in the evening here in Australia, and I  have a question. What are contribution points and how do you earn them? Are they given for each review you write, or do they get awarded when you answer a question? Or even if you ask a question. 

I have a big fat zero - 0 contribution and my profile looks mighty lonely at present. It should be noted I watch far more Asian dramas than I wrote about. In fact most of my days are spent in front of the idiot box!

You can't earn contribution points by writing reviews, or answering/asking  questions.

What are the benefits of having contributions points? 

I added a bunch of manga, synopsis, characters, recommendations on Anilist and myanimelist but instead of thanking me they banned me for having a previous profile from 5 years ago that I don't have access to cause I forgotten the email and for posting ai_generated pics. I I post screenshots of anime they say it's copyrighted infringement or spoilers.. 

So I ask What is the point of contributing, there is no point..
