As a viewer, I got different impressions from both the episode 5 club scene and the Momoko/Kawahara scenes. It's why I love reading everyone's comments on the show, they range a lot but also can't deny we enjoy the show.
Momoko suggesting to Kawahara to break up isn't making decisions for Manami. Momoko can't "make" decisions for anyone else. If Kawahara really breaks up with her because of that, it only shows how immature and irresponsible he is.
Momoko looking chagrined in the club at Kaoru's charge that she's bored-- I think it's coming off of her recent interview with Tsubasa who also tried to put his moves on her. She was tired of being thought of as one of the women who seek out hosts. Momoko is a layered character-- she's a divorcee, strong, independent, and her best friend is someone who other women wouldn't have friended (mutual victim of a cheating boyfriend). But she's also showing her vulnerability when she exchanges glances with the hosts like Tsubasa when they try their tactics on her. She pauses, but I don't see her capitulating.
I'm not trying to change your mind-- I see where you're coming from, but I just wanted to discuss the character of Momoko. It's so interesting.
