Hi everyone, I know we’re all feeling some type of way right now after the Revenged Love team announced the sudden postponement of episodes 11 and 12, along with a change in the release schedule moving forward. The official reason cites the desire to “ensure the perfect viewing experience,” and while I’m trying to be optimistic about that, I understand the storm of emotions this has stirred up in the fandom.
Some fans have pointed fingers at Tian Xuning (Chi Cheng), whose personal life has been unfairly dragged through the mud with rumors and baseless gossip. Let me be clear: he has never initiated any of this, and it breaks my heart to see how far-reaching the damage of fan speculation can be. He’s an actor, not public property!
But let’s not let this moment divide us.
I’m starting this thread to create a space for healthy venting, hopeful theorizing, and community support. Maybe this delay is a marketing move to build anticipation. Perhaps the team is refining the next episodes to match the rising tension and development we’ve seen so far. We don’t know for sure, but what we do know is that if the fandom fractures now, we risk exactly what we fear most: cancellation.
So let’s talk. What are your thoughts? Your hopes? Your frustrations? Let’s keep the love for Wu Suo Wei and Chi Cheng alive. Let’s hold the line for this masterpiece that has brought us so much joy, laughter, and emotional whiplash.
Sound off below. We’re in this together. 🫂
Thanks for creating this topic!
Tbh, I am usually pessimistic by nature, so I do not have high hopes BUT I want to believe that the production company will not do anything THAT bad like editing to high heaven and back.
I am sure there are things behind the scenes that prevent them from being more clear but I also believe that as fans, we should have some kind of knowledge and confirmation about what is going to happen.
Let us list so far the timeline:
- RL gets super popular in China and international platforms, even though most of us did not expect it
- Even though it is banned in Mainland China, the main actors receive much attention: millions of followers on their social media, and thus
- The harassment begins!
- First with ZY at the airport, later and worse, with TXN
- TXN sees his name trending on Weibo daily regarding accusations with past gfs, cheating and a baby
- Meanwhile, the series continues to grow in popularity
- This week arrives with episodes 9 and 10
- Some fans do not like the editing or the make-out office scene compared to the leaked one, but nothing too bad
- We are at the height of TXN's online harassment while he is filming his new series
- Wednesday comes, we get a BTS from the office scene
- Thursday no BTS, fans are getting worried
- Friday, ViU Thailand posts an announcement that episodes 11 + 12 (which fans who have read the drama and others like me who have been spoiled, know these are THE episodes) will be postponed for July 21st as per production company
- At the same time, TXN posts on Weibo (for the second time now) but he is finally taking legal action against malicious rumors
- Fans are happy about TXN but worried about the series. Why a postpone now? Are they trying to calm down the waters? Is something else happening?
- And we arrive today, 21:00 Chinese local time, the official account posts in all their social media platforms that "thank you for your support but apologies, we will postpone episodes 11 + 12 to a later date (to be announced) for a better viewing experience)
- A HOT MESS
- TXN gets blamed again, ViU Thailand and Indonesia say that the episodes will air for sure on July 21st, JCD has not been active for around 10 days on her social media (maybe more?)
My hope is that they do not do any heavy editing to their intimate moments. By that, I mean scenes that are there to confirm, and further explore and establish their relationship. I am totally fine without seeing NSFW scenes as per Thai BL but I also do not want high-fives and just vagueness. What you filmed, show it. Do not cut and edit.
My frustration is lack of proper communication from their side. I understand there are things they can not announce in public, they are most likely frustrated themselves that they had to do this, are not happy with the situation now but "for a better viewing experience" is too vague. As fans, it is the least we deserve. If we did not have that tweet from ViU Thailand, the mess would have been worse now (although I know some fans were expecting it).
Anyways, that is all I have to say so far! Let us hope we shall get the episodes back the week after as per ViU twitter :)
I've come across people who think the pause is due to dubbing issues (specifically in Thailand?) and that they want to ensure a globally synchronized release.
I should clarify I have no idea about the technicalities and why it should even be necessary to dub the show for a Thai release? I also don't know the source or if there even is an official one. So maybe it's just people trying to be optimistic. But it's the first theory I've heard that sort of makes sense in terms of the "ensuring a better viewing experience".
I am not entertaining dubbing issues and quality consistency across platform as reasons for delay even for a moment. For one, if that were to be the case, the production company would have specified it in their announcement and two, multiple platforms that are not Thai were privy to this information way before the production team officially announced it today. I've been through hell and high water with past CBLs like Addicted and Advance Bravely. If history is any indication, I am not holding on to much hope and fear the show will either be watered down or cancelled in entirety. The optimist in me thinks the production company is more resourceful than we give them credit for and have strategies/escape plan to address the backlash from CCP or fans if shit hits the roof. And that this is them merely buying time to ensure the hype is alive, while guaranteeing the Actors' safety. With the warning from last week and the length of recent episodes being shorter, I fear we need to be mentally prepared for a bitter end to our favorite series. I don't regret starting the series one bit, I enjoyed the show immensely for what scraps of content we were privy to and will support the actors and pray for their safety and future success. This is also not going to deter me from skipping ABO desire. CBL actors, crew and production are all daring and deserve all our love and support.
Thank you all so much for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and theories! I’ve read each comment with care, and I’m genuinely moved by the passion, insight, and love we all have for Revenged Love and for Chi Cheng and Wu Suo Wei.
@Nanakor – I appreciate the timeline breakdown. It really helps contextualize how we got to this mess of a moment, and I feel you on the lack of clarity. “For a better viewing experience” really doesn’t say much, and with how much we've emotionally invested, it’s only fair to ask for better communication. Your hope for uncut, meaningful intimacy scenes without censorship is so valid, and rightfully echoed by many. Let’s keep holding on to that, gently but firmly.
@tregetours – Thank you for adding the dubbing theory into the mix. Even if it’s unconfirmed, it does align with the vague “better experience” explanation and might be the production team’s way of preventing further fan backlash across platforms. Whether or not it’s the truth, it reminds me that so much of this show’s release is tied to logistics we’re often not privy to.
@kruppe92 – Your honesty is sobering, and your resilience is admirable. You’ve been through it all with the older CBLs, and I respect how you’re balancing realism with care for the cast and crew. The fear of a watered-down version or cancellation is real, but I share your belief that this production team might still be fighting behind the scenes for the show’s integrity. Whatever happens, this series gave us something special, and we’ll carry it with us.
Let’s continue to hold space here: for hope, for venting, for solidarity. Whether we get a happy ending or a bittersweet cut, Revenged Love has already carved a place in our hearts and CBL history. Thank you all again. Let’s keep the light on and the fire burning.
I'm confused. I thought this was a Taiwan production? It is listed as a Taiwan production at Viki. Usually, Taiwan BL productions are not censored. I also thought this series was not airing in China, since all BL TV shows are banned in China. So why would China have any control over the production? So why would China have any control over the production? Doesn't make sense to me.
Hello everyone, I was a little upset about the postponement of the release of the next episodes, but I understand perfectly well that this was done for a reason.
Suo Wei: "Actually, I really like you." Chi Chen did not expect this and was very happy to hear it. I liked that moment and Chi Chen's pleased face. He's so cute.
I like the second pair too. Chen Yu and Dr. Xiao Shuai are unapproachable. I am also pleased to observe the development of their relationship.
I really liked the music design, and I would love to buy an album with all the tracks.
Please be kinder to each other. Good luck to all!!!
China is filming in a foreign country, and for any location you first need to coordinate and get permission.
To watch BL lakorns, I have to turn on VPN, because they are banned in my country.
And I don't understand Asian fans who poke their noses into the personal lives of actors and singers... Put yourself in their shoes, and how would you feel?
There is a wonderful phrase by Confucius, an ancient thinker and philosopher of China: "Treat others as you want to be treated." And I adhere to it, because it is suitable for all ages.
I wish everyone love, kindness and good luck!
@Nanakor: timeline update
On Monday the 14th Chai Jidan released a statement on weibo explaining things in slightly more detail. Someone in the comment section translated it (apologies for forgetting who) and it says:
"Please everyone, don't panic! It's just a normal content adjustment. Because the previous editing was controversial, episodes 11 and 12 are undergoing a re-review, and we will make sure the content is presented at its best. Since the content adjustment involves translation and dubbing work, we need a little time! We're already working hard to speed things up-can you give us a little time, please?
Please don't attack innocent actors and main creators. The official team will definitely announce a clear resumption time for everyone within this week. Please don't readily believe hearsay; everything is subject to the official statement."
Since the drama has a dubbed version in Thai as well, this means that both the Mandarin and the Thai dubs have to be updated, which means all the voice actors for both languages have to be available.
