I watched this series before and loved it and want to rewatch it but I cannot remember the title.
An older minister (a grandfather) in the emperor’s court speaks his mind too freely and angers the Emperor. The old man is stubborn and will not apologise. In a peak of anger, the Emperor demotes him and all the males of his clan to slaves and sends them far away. The females of the clan are also demoted and thrown out of their home, the property seized by the crown.
The new leader of the King’s secret police guards Carrie’s out the order. He wears a mask in public. The grandmother leads the females to a home which is owned by her friend whom the emperor cannot touch. The grandmother is the head of the family and all females must obey her will.
One of the granddaughters is smart and savvy and becomes the new head.
She runs a business which grows and supports them.
