Oh dang so it gets to that level of cultivation huh where it becomes saints, demigods, and godlike deities huh? Oh boy - it's been a while since I watched/read one of those.

Yeah I kind of hope they cut most of that and end it with his dad. I kinda zoned out after.

Also, is Shen Shu actually a good guy?

Kind of... when he got dismembered different pieces of him ended up with different personalities. So there are evil parts and good parts. His backstory's pretty confusing and I didn't get a lot of it.

What led to him getting dismembered in the first place then lol? Sounds like he had to have been pretty bad to have his body torn apart lol.

Uhhhh from what I remember he was trying to form an alliance with the fox clan (the show calls them the Kui, Fu Shan is a spy for them) and some of the other Bhuddists (what the show calls Tian Yu) didn't much like that plan so they teamed up to take him down. Seeing how he's basically unkillable the best plan they had was to dismember him and spread his pieces around the world.

There was something about him possibly being the Bhudda? Like the founder/god of the Bhuddists. I'm not sure if that was true or misdirection. Possible he was a split personality of the Bhudda.

Completely possible I got this wrong, like I said once you get into deity territory the story gets a little screwy.

There's also something about how a martial deity has never existed, and if one ever did exist it would be basically undefeatable. Shen Shu was a half step from being the martial deity, so all the other deities didn't much like that either.

(Take one guess what XQA becomes at the end of the end of the book)

From what I read in the description, Shenshu is a merged form of the soul of Buddha and the remnants of Shura King. Since he was merged from two different beings, his mind is a bit muddled, and we can see he hardly remember things (also maybe because he only has his hand for now).

So what happen to xQA at the end than?

 Singularity:

@uanaka

He's not actually the ultimate big bad. He's the last villain I really cared about though. The really late villains are mostly deities of some kind, which IMO just isn't as interesting.

so unlike the drama (as of this post) Rank 9-1 are not the highest levels in the novel?

Correct. None of the "rank 0" (the novel calls them "beyond rank") beings would have been introduced at this point in the novel either, so they still might pop up later. Each of the cultivation paths either currently have or have had a rank 0 in the past. Most of them are either dead, vanished, sealed away, or otherwise occupied.

The two cultivation paths that don't have and have never had a rank 0 are the fighters/pugilists (which is what XQA and Wei Yuan are) and the Sorcerers (which is what the Supervisor is). The Sorcerers are the youngest cultivation path by a lot (only 500 years old) so this may be why they've never had a rank 0. They also have very odd level up requirements, so there's usually not that many high level Sorcerers. The fighters are one of the oldest (and most numerous) paths so it's strange that they've never had one.

The other paths include the Daoists, (like most of the heaven/earth society, there are 3 subclasses, which are the Heaven, Earth,  and Human sects), the scholars (like Yunlu academy), the Witchers (mostly bad guys), the Bhuddists, and there's one more that may have been entirely cut from the drama (they use Gu, which are like little magical parasites/bugs that grant powers, in the novel there's a heaven/earth society member who is part of this path, but she seems to have been cut from the drama).  Each of these have had or currently have a rank 0.

I think that's all the paths. Some characters are multi-classes, like Chu Yuanzhen is a Daoist/fighter multiclass.
