MDL's 2026 Watch Challenge

Note: Questions posted in the FAQ forum will be answered by us and other experienced users. Questions posted or sent to our account will be answered by us but may take more time. Please check the FAQ and/or search the wide internet for definitions of words used in prompts, before sending us a question. If a word has several meanings we will accept them all (unless stated otherwise) 

If your worksheet is completed successfully and your turn-in form is submitted by January 3, 2027, you will be included in the Hall of Fame. 

If you submit your form on January 4, 2027 or later, you will have had the joy of completing the challenge, but your entry will not be added to the Hall of Fame.

Note: Since MDL is a user-created database, if you see a relevant tag or genre missing from a Title, help make the site better by adding tags and genres (click on "Edit this page" in the upper right corner on the Title’s main page and click "Genres" from there to add tags and genres. These guidelines will help you get started).

If a title fits the criteria for having a tag but does not have it at the moment it is still acceptable. 

Disclaimer: MDL is an ever-changing platform, so some of the links, tags and genres that are used for this challenge may have changed during the duration of the challenge. If that happens go HERE. We will NOT, however, change the application form once it has been published… 

If a title fits the criteria for having a tag but the tag no longer exists it is still acceptable. 

1. Go to the application form/sign up sheet.

2. Copy the application / Sign up sheet (this is also your worksheet) Note: It can be hard to get the formatting to follow, so for that we have developed this hack.

3. Answer in this thread by pressing Quick Reply.

4. Paste the application and Save application by pressing Reply.

5. Click on the arrow at the bottom of your application.

6. Choose Share to be able to save the link to your application or Choose Edit to edit as you go along.

A Title is anything you can watch that is in the MDL database.

Each Title must be watched from start to finish between January 1 and December 31, 2026 unless specifically stated otherwise. 

Each Title can only be used ONCE and only for one prompt in the challenge (tip: use a custom list to keep track).

It is okay to re-watch Titles you saw in previous years as long as you watch the whole Title during 2026. If you started a show in 2025. you can ONLY use that Title if you RE-WATCH those episodes you watched in 2025.

Scenario:
By December 31, 2026 you may have seen Imawa no Kuni no Alice in its entirety 10 times: 5 times in 2025 and 5 times in 2025. You may only use it once for any given year’s challenge (so if you used it in 2025, you can still use it in 2026, but only for one prompt).

There are 158  prompts in this challenge divided into 31 blocks - each containing 5 prompts/titles (with the exception of the International airport block, which contains 8 prompts/titles ) + 25 bonus prompts that can be used as a bonus or in exchange for prompts you wish to avoid. You can either watch something first and then find a prompt, or you can find a prompt and then watch a title that specifically completes it. Just make sure you watch the whole title between January 1st 2026 and December 31st, 2026*. 

*unless stated otherwise 

• Blocks (Gems) are groups of FIVE prompts (properties).

• There is ONE exception to the groups of FIVE prompts and that is block #, Countries of MDL. To complete this block, you still only need to complete 5 titles (5 countries). However, if you complete all 8 you get an extra badge.

• Watch MDL titles that answer each of the 5 prompts in each block. You may only use 1 MDL title per prompt. Repeat for each block.

• You may choose to complete any number of blocks. And may finish the title in any order you would like.

• Once you complete your second block, if you don’t want to add any more titles or reach a higher level/different diamond status, you can turn in your challenge form HERE. Congratulations!

• You can move titles around as much as you want on the worksheet while you are working on it.

• The names of the blocks are just for fun.

Here is a block (Gem) , the notes are optional unless stated otherwise, but you must fill in titles in the space for Geode for them to count.

Once you are COMPLETELY DONE and do not want to add anything more to your sign up sheet, you may turn in your application here between January 1, 2026 and January 3, 2027.
