I'm Russian and when I just started to watch Korean dramas it was strange to see female characters named Yura/Yuri. They are beautiful names but in Russia Yura/Yuri is a male given name.

Most Thai english nicknames were weird when I first heard them. I remember one drama where a character was named Turd. Forgotten the name so cannot add it here.

there was a Turd in The Theory of Love ('Third' actually but they said it like Turd.) I was laughing because his best friend is called 'two' and I was like: "we only need one to complete the trio."

Ah, of course, I'd forgotten. The H's are often aspirate in Thai (names, at least from what I gather) so you say the T and breathe out a bit heavier at the same time, almost like a lisp.
