He said so himself he never had feelings for them though. The mom assumed the reason he was against all the blind dates was that he had to like one of the sisters but he never said he did.He felt comfort being around their family(unlike his own) and had no desire for romantic relationships. It was only until later when he got with the older sister that feelings surfaced but he never had those type of feelings for FL from my understanding.
