But I'll just say I totally get you, guys, when you said submissive ML doesn't automatically mean dominant FL. I wish Wanyao was more forward with him, because when she is, it's beautiful. I think the bar is just so low, when a drama rises to it, even crosses it, I'm clapping like a seal.

@murderbee, Idk have you checked out 'You Have My Heart'? It's pretty decent and ML really is just the skinniest scholar :)) Looking at it, it's like you take He Simu from LBTG and Yan Shang and put them together in a mini drama :)
I know how you feel, I read along conversations and it can be hard to keep up! But it's always nice to hear from you!!
I wish she was more forward too. I love the little moments we get now and then when she DOES make a move or assert herself, but sadly she isn't a truly dominant FL. Maybe we'll get some more of that later in the show? I can only hope haha.
Same here lol, my expectations are very low and this drama has surpassed them in a lot of ways for me! I'm feeling hopeful for Shadows of Desire...

Actually, while I have you here and I know you know Mandarin and will probably have an easier time finding info than me, do you know anything about the drama Zhu Ying Zong Liao Luan? I've been wanting to watch it for forever, but I can't find it subtitled anywhere (only raw on YT). I kinda stumbled upon the poster by chance in some odd subreddit, but even googling it, I can't find much else on it... From what I was able to gather, both leads seem to be crossdressers and ML is a concubine married to FL's dad(???). It seems thoroughly RR and set in the republican era, so I'm bummed it's not subbed anywhere, but maybe I can still watch it raw if I have a bit more info on what's going on 👉👈

I completely get where you're coming from. The drama is still giving us a lot, it's just hard to not feel some type of way about it when the FL is so clearly made to be more submissive for no good reason whatsoever 😔 I just wish we could get a well-written drama that's thoroughly RR where both leads are into it

After watching episode 23, I am pleased to announce that even Yu Cheng’an, the eunuch antagonist, was an RR man 🥹
Finally caught up to ep 23 and omgggggg!!! You know, I got that vibe when he was interacting with the grand princess in the earlier episodes, but I thought that was just me seeing RR in everything 😩 But he really is an RR man!!! He was so shy and cute back in the day!! Yet another shy cutie stuck with a domineering princess, oh, how very perfect 😂 I loved their scene!
And yeah, I watched You Have My Heart while it was airing. I loved it so much!! It made it onto my fav RR list 🤭 And now that I think about it, you’re actually right, it is like He Simu and Yan Shang in a drama together!
I also watched it when it aired, I admit I flew through last couple of episodes, because I didn't have much time back then. I promised myself to go back to it because out of the RR out there, this is one of the better ones. I just wish Hankiz Omar would chill with the botox just a little bit, just a few ml's less so the eye brows move 😂

You know what, I am excited and so scared for Shadows of Desire. I'm keeping my expectations low. Honestly, I liked TSTR trailer more when in comparison because I felt like there would be more plot (and it is), like from the trailer, I understood what's happening - I can't tell you what is the plot of Shadows of Desire. I think the BTS they released after filming, was better than the trailer. Also went to TSTR with the knowledge that it's the same director as for Love Beyond the Grave, which I loved, so I felt that dynamic wise, it won't disappoint (and it didn't).
SOD kinda scares me with a) that trailer and b) the crew? 3 directors, all that are men, screenwriters are 2, one I can't find, the other one is a woman - Cui Ai Jun - who has one writing credit before this....
So what I'm saying I'm cautiously optimistic, if for nothing else than the author of SOD novel is the same of TSTR novel, and visually the drama looks great, but overall, it doesn't inspire confidence. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised (I hope I'll be) than disappointed🫣
