Mr Cinderella (2021, 8x25min)

Mr. Cinderella tells the story of Dung and Khoa. When Dung was a child, he used to be close and liked a little girl, he often called her "his Cinderella" but then the girl moved house and Dung lost contact since then.

This is another interesting & rather funny vietnamese bl.
Warning: the product placement in the first two episodes is over the top, so much so it's hilarious! Just let it pass, you won't regret it!

Mr Cinderella 2 (2023. 8x35min)

Khoa and Dung are happily living together in marital bliss (and eating spaghetti bolognese for breakfast! But who am I to judge other people's eating habits?) when suddenly  Khoa's brother Thanh shows up after a six year absence. His return creates problems for Khoa both in his private as well as in his professional life.

The plot is frankly a bit messy, the solution to problems is a bit iffy and some characters' reactions are illogical, to say the least. The production value is rather low: they were obviously shooting on a shoestring budget.

But it was nice to see the return of the main couple: they were cute together and so much in love. The one who stole the show with his acting skills is Mai Vu Luan. He managed to portray the character of Thanh with brio, toeing the fine line between scary and pitiful, mad and cute. He played the cat in ViAn and was the cutest thing ever! An amazing actor, indeed. And of course, there is Ba Vinh, THE star of vietnamese bls.

You Are Ma Boy(2021, 6x25min)

A story about the relationship from enemies to lovers between two straight guys. It takes viewers through all levels of emotions thanks to the sweet details with romantic and dramatic twist. "Does anyone believe in the love of two boys?"

It is a cute little web drama reminiscent of early thai bls with the usual sound effects but without engineering students (a story between an idol singer and a barista) or comic relief trans characters!
What I find interesting about these dramas is that these are stories about adults behaving as adults!

Another underrated gem of a bl with some lovely cinematography and such natural chemistry between the leads.....

Trong Nghia and Nhat Minh have been close friends since childhood, but suddenly one day Trong Nghia realized that he had different feelings for his best friend. Will Trong Nghia reveal this feeling or decide to keep silent to protect the long-standing friendship? -- By the same producers as "You are my Sunshine" and "You are my stupid boy".

There are three stories in this short webdrama: a bl, a gl and a noona romance! It is light and funny and a quick 1h watch....
And the ubiquitous Ba Vinh makes a cameo appearance! So sweet!

In S1  of this school romance, the guys (who have a distant resemblance with Billkin and PPKrit which is underlined by posters and pictures hanging in the halls!) meet, clash and then fall in love! In S2 they go to the countryside to meet one boy's(whose good looks are ruined by bad hair!) mother ! The main couple from Stupid Boys, Stupid Love appears here!

VIETNAMESE BL 13

A Love Song For My Beloved (2022.)
7ep. x 15min  and 2 sp. ep. x 20 min (2 yrs later..)

A story about a server in a bar and the men around him: an abusive boyfriend, a tall coworker with a crush on him, a best friend in love with the aforementioned tall barman and a customer who is reminded of a lost lover!

Unfortunately, this drama looks like it had been written by MAME: red flags abound, sensitive issues touched upon and brushed aside, badly written! Basically, it is all over the place! The only good about it is the title, so poetic and the reason why I watched it! And really wanted to like it!

This is frankly, my first disappointment in VBLs! Usually viet bls have a confusing first episode but the story then gets on track and just soars! Writing, acting, filming, music are usually really good for such low budget series! So not the case here!
