Dramas Rated 10

My 10s: Bloody Monday - great, intensive, you won't get bored even for a second. City Hunter - as above, and the hero is just a superhero, like a perfect man, deadly but totally lovable. First Kiss - Inue Mao was great, and her love interest was one of my favorite characters ever, I mean a really good guy, and a sensible one too (without the usual I love you but I can't be with you, so I will act as I hate you and make your life miserable- he knew what he wanted and sticked with it) Hana Kimi Japan - watched several times, laughed hard, and Oguri Shun is one of my favorites. Probably everyone watched it, so everyone knows it's great. Liar game 2 and Final Stage - something different and unexpected, I was a bit annoyed with the female lead in the first season so I didn't rate it that high. But she improved a lot. Nodame Cantabile - I simply love it. Best one ever! Great story - it evolves so well, and it's not disappointing or annoying at any moment, you don't get bored and the ending is so well done (actually after the first cinematic movie while watching the trailer for the second one, I was so worried for 3 months about how is it going to end - but the second movie is so epic, totally amazing), great acting-main leads are amazing-both Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri are really good cast (an it's fun to watch how Tamaki's conducting skills evolved since the beginning of the drama- he really must have practiced a lot) all the supporting characters are so much fun , from dorky music students to overdone foreigners, it's a really hilarious. And the music of course- they actually created an orchestra of young musicians to record this, and the choice of pieces is also great. Samurai High School- it should be called a Miura Haruma show, he's just to awesome in this, both in regular and Samurai mode. Yume wo Kanaeru zo - love the main actress since Nodame, and I'm into life management techniques, so I really dig this show. I think I should watch 49 days since so many people gave it 10.

This said, although there are mediocre dramas that capture my fancy for unfathomable reasons, I can't bring myself to give a 10 to a silly plot, ordinary dialogues or bad acting. Regardless of how much I liked it, a drama has to have substance and "own" the podium, otherwise every mark I give would lose in dependability. Obviously I love my 7 year old niece's drawings and cherish them for the simple fact that they touch my heart, but if I said they are worth a 10, how could I possibly say the same of a painting by Klimt?

I find myself the same about giving a 10 to dramas after I've seen a good number. And I like your comparison - I feel the same! To me a drama has to not only be something I really loved but it has to be original and has to be something I really feel deserves a 10 and there's little to nothing I would change about the story. That being said, the dramas I've previously watched and given 10s I can't bring myself to change them to 9s (even if some might deserve it) out of favoritism. I find I give more 8s and 9s nowadays then when I first joined MDL. I think that when you first get introduced to dramas you want to give every drama a 10 (in most cases I've seen) but after you've seen so many you start to see similarities in each drama and it makes it harder to think a drama is a "masterpiece" when it starts taking on every cliche you've found in previous dramas (:

I have to admit after the first blush has worn off i do go back & down grade scores i give to dramas ....if they stand the test of time then they were truly deserving of a 10 in the first place :)

I do the same thing! Haha I've given 10s to dramas then gone back and changed them to 9s. Or if I really didn't care for a drama at first I might rate it with a low of 6 or 7....but like with Heartstrings - I kept going back and knocking the score down as after time passed I found a 7 didn't really describe my feelings on it. So now it's a 4

Yes, going back and changing the score has become a bad habit of mine too. I say bad because my attempts at objectivity are all good on paper but there are some deep dislikes (or likes), which I can't overcome no matter how hard I try.

Hahaha it just might :p The 2 points for the soundtrack (: I've thought about going back and changing some of my other scores. I think I gave Spy Myung Wol a 6 (probably will change it to a 5...and those 5 points all go to Eric for holding on and doing his best until the end....LOL). And same! I can't change my opinion on some dramas no matter how much time has passed, either

I have trouble going back and changing dramas I rated high and loved to a lower score, so I usually just leave them as they are, too. If I didn't like a drama or if I feel it was overrated and I didn't like it too much to begin with, I tend to go back and keep knocking the score down (You're Beautiful went from an 8 to a 6, BOF went from an 8 to a 6, etc.) Haha it's bad

Hahaha You just reminded me that I had been meaning to change my rating for YB. I originally had it as a 9, but was thinking that it really wasn't that impressive, just my love for the characters. (Jeremy and Yonghwa's character) I rated BOF a 4 since it took me 4 years to get as far as episode 8. hahaha I did not like it.

Exactly, I was tempted to rate it a 1 for that reason...........but I gave it a 4 since I haven't finished it. I may lower it later, I may not lol
