Japanese or Chinese slice of life

Suika is one of my favorites. It's a Japanese slice-of-life drama.

If you're interested in movies, Yasujiro Ozu made a lot of good slice-of-life movies. I think Late Spring is good place to start, but you can pick any random Ozu movie and it'll probably be good.

Hirokazu Koreeda also made some good slice-of-life movies e.g. Still Walking and Our Little Sister.

Are you aware of JFF Theater? This is a platform that offers Japanese films for free and legally -- usually for a length of about three months, then they change to the next batch.

Currently, there's no slice-of-life, but they have shown several in the last two years, so it's worth checking out regularly.

If you ever come across them, I would recommend these films:

Oh, I aware of JFF Theater, it's just back then when I checked it I already watched the movies on it, the one that I was attracted to. But just now I checked and there's A Midsummer Equation that I haven't been able to watch because I can't find the subtitle back then. I'll watch it later. Already watched Suspect X and Yudo that's currently available on JFF Theater.

Ah, I currently only subscribed to iQIYI, Netflix and Youku. Will check their availability on youtube. Do you have any particular title(s) you love from Yasujiro Ozu?

Other than Our Little Sister, I happened to also already watched Hirokazu Koreeda's Nobody Knows and Like Father Like Son. And other than Still Walking, I do plan to watch After Life, Shoplifters, Monster and Asura. He's a great director.

I watched his movies a long time ago so it's hard to remember, but I think my favorites were Late Spring, Late Autumn, and Ohayo.

Late Spring and Late Autumn are kind of similar to each other, so if you only watch 3 Ozu movies, I recommend Late Spring, Ohayo, and Tokyo Story.

If you can find the following:

Kokichi no Nyoubou S1 and S2 - It's historical, slice of life, family centered, based on fictional writing of the father of Katsu Kaishu

My Family formerly known as Kazoku dakara Aishitan Janakute.....too long to write - As the name implies it's another family drama

Hiroshige Blue - Another family drama set in Edo period. Only 1 episode but it could be in the form of 3 parts online.

Shrink: Psychiatrist Yowai - Short drama with only 3 episodes

Chichi to Musuko no Chika Idol - SP drama about a father fulfilling his son's unfinished work in producing underground Idol Group

Because We Forget Everything - Because it's slice of life disguised as mystery drama.

The Makanai - About a girl who did not pass of becoming Maiko (apprentice Geisha) but stayed to become a cook for the Maikos instead.

Kotaki Brothers - comedy, slice of life, LOL stuffs

To Heal The Heart - Inspired by the life of Dr. An Katsumasa, Korean-Japanese psychiatrist during the 1995 great earthquake. Terminal Illness drama so you know what to expect.

Totto TV - biographical drama of Kuroyanagi Tetsuko

Toumei na Yurikago - about daily life at obgyn clinic seen from the POV of (mildly autistic) young nurse apprentice

Zenkamono - FL became probation officer

Rojo no Ruka - about young girl who aspires to become singer. Recompiled into drama format from the movie, Kyrie,

Overprotected Kahoko — I went in thinking it was a silly piece of fluff, but it had great character development. I ended up loving the simple, bewildered FL.
