Indie Art Girl:
I have a question for anyone that wants to respond:
Would it bother you to watch a drama knowing the ML already has two kids by a concubine before the story even begins with the FL? Does it make any difference or does it depend on the circumstances?
I'm asking cuz I just learned this is the case for a historical drama I was about to start but now I'm not so interested. And I'm curious about why I feel that way and if others might feel smth similar too.
It doesn't bother me if the show is good overall and the FL is a strong character and there are other aspects to the plot and not just harem politics all the time. The sword and the Brocade has this too, but its is a really good drama. ML has 2 or 3 concubines with children before FL, is a widower and then also has a concubine after (forced marriage). The Trust was the same, no children though, awesome show, the ML is a king so he has multiple concubines but I loved the show.
I think there is a life lived for our characters and given we are talking about historicals, when marriage/ concubinage happened at a very early age, often at the behest of the family, I can't really hold it against them ..... unless the ML plays the women off of each other or continues with concubines even after the couple actually gets together.
