It was a holiday here today, so I took the chance to catch up on my BL series. 💃💃

Stay by my side after the rain: I saw some criticism about the intimate scene between the two characters, and while I agree with most of it, I honestly wasn’t expecting anything different from what we got. To be honest, a different kind of scene would’ve felt off to me cause it just wouldn’t match their personalities. If it were up to me, all NC scenes in any series would be handled by BOC. But then again, if that were the case, we wouldn’t have Mashiro and Kanade.

I'm the most beautiful count: I didn’t think I’d end up loving this series so much. Comedy is tough, especially when you’ve got a character who needs to be over-the-top. It takes real skill to avoid coming off as ridiculous, annoying, or forced. And Supanut is killing it! His expressions are so on point. He’s really showing off his range as an actor by bringing such a charismatic and layered character to life. Chaiyachet is another one who’s totally winning me over. Even though he’s young, he proves why he’s the king. He might seem naïve or easy to manipulate, but he definitely knows which “bugs” he needs to squash. I love how confident and grounded he is, especially when it comes to defending Kosol and trusting his innocence. I wonder if we’ll see a romance between Chaiyachet and Jade? That would be pretty interesting.


The promise of the soul: I’m genuinely into reincarnation stories because I truly believe in it. And after watching so many Chinese and Japanese series, I realized I’ve always believed in the Red Thread of Fate, even though I’d never heard of the legend before. Anyway, back to the series. I’m seriously curious to see how the story unfolds with only three episodes left. The chemistry between Martin Wong and Kenji Fan is absolutely wild. And the secondary couple? Totally adorable. I’m wondering if Guan Ri Qing is going to act under Xia Cha’s influence. On a side note: I’ve criticized GL characters in BL series before, but Hana and Haru are killing it. They’re actually interesting and not just thrown in as filler.


Memoir of Rati: MekDech & P'TheeK'Rati. It's so interesting how they act like thematic mirrors of each other. They reflect not just different kinds of love, but also the social challenges of their time. AouBoon and GreatInn’s chemistry is flawless as always, and they’re totally nailing their roles. I swear, there’s something off about this story. P'Thee’s grandma should’ve been Dech’s dad’s mom, that would make everything click. What a duo! It’s like they’ve got cruelty running through their veins instead of blood. Mek crying alone in his room had me crying too. But Dech’s dad’s words are going to be the push he needs to rise up socially. These last three episodes are going to be intense.

Agree. The respective struggles of Mashiro (with his mother) and Kanade (with his closetedness) are essential to the story. Their awkwardness is part of this, and a fiery NC scene absolutely wouldn't fit.

I started a bit lukewarm on this series but have since found myself feeling more engaged. I'm liking it more and more, and this was very much true in episode 8 as we see character development in both protagonists: Mashiro standing up to his mother, and Kanade slowing gaining confidence in himself. Unfortunately, no redemption arc in the mother yet, but there are still four episodes to go.

I didn't answer yesterday's challenge question ("Most annoying character ever") because I couldn't decide on one, but Mashiro's mother is definitely a contender.

Atlhough I'm not crazy about the over-the-top comedy, I'm still mostly enjoying this series, and there's more that I do like about it than what I don't like. The historical setting is beautifully done.

BL Challenge Day 10: Most evil character of all time

I'm tempted to say Korn's and Intouch's respective dads in "Until We Meet Again", but Korn's dad got a modicum of redemption at the end, and Intouch's dad died long before the present day.

So instead I will choose between Gun (Sky's ex) in "Love In the Air", Trump (Pete's ex) in "Love By Chance", and Uea's mom in "Bedfriend". 

And the winner is ... Uea's mom.

Memoir of Rati ep 9 tonight has taken me through a roller coaster of emotions. The amount of visceral hate that I feel deep into the core of my being for both Dech's father and Thee's grandmother is immeasurable. Just be glad you couldn't hear the sh*t I was saying out loud while I watching tonight. At least we ended the episode with one of the most beautiful moments so far.

10 things to do before I turn 40 (so sweet but please more kissing!)

stay by my side after the rain (I like the characters but I did find the NC scene a bit stiff. I do think a graphic scene wouldn’t have fit but it still wasn’t quite right even for a reserved one.)

unfortunately I cannot get into I’m the most beautiful count. I don’t really like comedy anyway, and the ott comedy is just cringe for me. I really want to watch it for the actors but I couldnt bring myself to sit through today’s episode. Maybe later.

Adding another one to my ever-growing list 😂 The last series I watched with him was Leap Day (non-BL). He played a young autistic guy and totally stole every scene he was in!

Nice, Midnight Museum was entertaining. I have yet to watch Leap Day, but it's on my ptw. I'll get to it someday soon, maybe even next month!

I am finding it hard to come up with a definitive answer, so I am just going to go with Seeiw from My Only 12%. I swear if I heard "Cake" one more time 😤
