I usually make a pretty vibes-based assessment for my ratings. i'll take into account things like production, plot & pacing, acting skills, etc. but at the end of the day if i had a good time watching it for any reason, it'll get a higher rating from me. usually what matters most to me for bl's specifically is chemistry, an engaging relationship dynamic, and good nc scenes 😇 i rarely give out lower ratings but when i do it's almost always because i just got bored while watching.
and i totally get that on 10 ratings. nothing is ever perfect to me so i just reserve 10's for my all time favorites
That's so relatable lol. Sometimes I'll give a show a low rating just because I've had a miserable day or just am not in the mood (in that case, I keep my rewatch rate high so there's a higher chance of me noticing it and trying to rewatch it in the case of actually liking it)

I was thinking about ratings and how I choose them. I never give anything a 10 because to me that’s perfect and nothing is. So my highest rated dramas are a 9.5. Also I never give anything less than a 6.0. I figure if I can sit through it it deserves at least that. But most things I rate between a 7 and a 9. I try to assess the quality as well as my enjoyment. I give an extra .5 points if I really liked it or end up rewatching it more than i expected. But in retrospect I wonder if this is the best way to do it to help myself and others assess a show’s quality. Are my ratings too close to each other? I find it hard to be harsh though because I can find something to like in most shows as long as they’re not boring. I do hate sad endings though. So that could ruin a decent show for me.

I get that nothing’s truly perfect, but most of my ratings are 10s or 9s because those shows really click with me. For me, giving a 10 doesn’t mean it’s flawless—it means it’s exactly what I’m looking for in quality, acting, and how much I connect with it.
When I rate, I think about all the good parts of the drama, movie, or show, or how much I actually enjoyed watching it.
I never give out low ratings, but if I do, it’s because I just got bored while watching, just didn't like the plot or found the plot confusing. That’s something iota mentioned about how they rate, along with being into chemistry between characters, engaging relationships, and solid NC scenes that add some spice.
Even if nothing’s perfect overall, some shows just feel perfect to me personally. I know most people might not agree, but I still find something good in those shows. It’s more about the whole experience than anything else. I know everyone has their own way of rating, and that’s cool — this is just how I see it for me.

i rate depending on some things :
- plot ( i usually cant finish a serie if the plot is so bad, if its good of course i can watch, if its a bit bad then i also can watch)
- entertainement (i'am having a good time watching or not)
- acting (its good as long as its decent)
- just like how my rating can go so up (like 10) it can get low too, depending on those things and depending on how i felt
- so if the show ended but left a very good impression, a beautiful message to the audience (which feels like i learned something from the show, or i was moved to tears ), or the feelings that i want more then id give it a 10

I'm similar. I'm a generous rater based on more subjective qualities (beautiful cinematography, me loving the OST), rather than how well it was produced (maybe because I know little about film-making). If a show manages to make me feel engaged and entertained, that's already a good start. NC scenes aren't a must for me. Too much can actually detract from my enjoyment and feel gratuitous (some may disagree).

OMG, what can I possibly say that is a deserving enough review for this series, other one word only - Masterpiece. From start to finish this series delivered on every aspect for me. The acting was excellent, every emotional delivery was palpable.
I am literally struggling to find the words to describe just how much I love this series and just how much it has embodied the word masterpiece. In episode 10 these words hit home for me,
"...go love"
"Grandma, one day I'll bring this guy to meet you."
The writing that went into Akin's grandmother's death and all that result from it was so well done. The fact that see died before Akin could have brought Jin to meet her really moved me.
The break-up NC scene in episode 9 is so captivating. For me it really drives home just how much love is involved. The song selection is spot on which makes it an even more powerful and heartbreaking scene. Another song that came to mind when watching it is Adele's "Love In The Dark".
I think there is a lot to learn about love from this series, especially from Akin's character. Seeing the journey of Akin learning that you cannot just take on burden's by yourself, but you have to rely on your partner as well as you cannot just stay for the happiness but you have to stay for the sad times too.
I am really hoping that there will be a season 2 because I am not ready for the story to end just yet. I want to experience the manager's story.
If there is a hall of fame for BLs, then this one is no doubt in it.
10/10 I would give a thousand 10s if I could.

Regarding the special 10 scene, it is a veto vote that overrules all other considerations. Meaning that if I was going to give a series a 7, for example, but then I watch a scene that arrests me I will just give the whole series 10 regardless of flaws. There are very few series that could possibly be called perfect, but for me, I believe there are perfect moments and scenes. It could be any type of scene. Rarely it has ever been a NC scene, but it was happened twice.
Anyway, this is my method of rating.

Very interesting! You made me want to look up your list to see your ratings. Very different than how I rate things but we definitely agree on some great shows. I like your idea of the special scene score. Yes, some shows do have those scenes that make the whole watch worthwhile.
