@Ju Moon

im so happy someone else has started memoir of rati and is loving it!

you and I were clearly writing recaps of all our weekend shows at the same time. lol.

I've been waiting for this series ever since they announced it was being made. And the first episode was everything I hoped for.

OMG, this was so funny! Recaps soulmates? 😂

Totally get the feeling of being overwhelmed with shows. I've got 22 on my list! The good news is two of them are wrapping up this week.  If you're not watching Revenged Love yet, I recommed it. I'm totally hooked on it.

The Bangkok Boy - episode 9

Firstly, did Peace really just give Sun their sex art as a gift to hang in the gym lol screaming iykyk

I really hope Sun knows what he is doing because otherwise he is making some dumb moves 😕

I cannot believe that it is already episode 9 which means only 3 episodes are left. I feels like just yesterday episode 1 aired; how the time flies.

I have to admit I am clueless as to what my rating will be; normally by this time I have an idea, barring a special 10 scene.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the next episode which promises to be intense based on the preview.

Memoir of Rati:  I was seriously counting down the days for this series! First of all, I’m a sucker for period dramas and second, because of Great and Inn. They’re both amazing actors, and their chemistry is just spot on. They’ve got this vibe, elegance, and presence that fits this kind of show perfectly. I didn't know I needed to see Aou and Boom as Muay Thai fighters. The first episode nailed it: stunning cinematography, flawless costumes. But I’ve already braced myself, 'cause I have a feeling we’re not getting a happy ending.

 dora:
I thought this was off to a great start. I liked that Great and Inn were interacting right away. Their chemistry is still 🔥. The plot set up was interesting and filled with lots of twists already. i am intrigued. I love the period costumes. The political background of WWI should also be interesting, although I know nothing of what happened to Thailand during this period.

I had been waiting for reviews on this series since I decided to wait a few episodes before deciding whether to watch now or binge at a later date. Thanks for the insight you two.

 dora:
The NC scene (finally!) was powerful imo. their sexual intensity reflected the intensity of their lives. I also think it showed a kind of desperation for love and pleasure the their lives are lacking. Whether that desperation also reflects the fact that they know their love may be destroyed by violence and manipulation at any moment is also a possibility.

I agree!

Me, too. I'm already obsessed. Can't wait till episodes 5 & 6 (tomorrow and Tuesday)!

 Indie Art Girl:

I'm taking a little break from posting here but will likely pop in to read the thread occasionally and track a few dramas I'm watching for sanity purposes. The new BL's and the ones coming out may have to wait until August. I'll catch up then.

My father passed away. My first travel stop was to see him the very next day. Instead I'll be going to his burial soon. Then I'll be traveling til the end of July, all family visits, so even though I thought about canceling everything, it's actually better to be with family rn. Otherwise I would be alone. My family convinced me to continue, and even talked me into keeping my wish to go to a SKZ concert next week. My brother is going with me. even though he's not a stay. The concert will be a welcome relief and bright spot in what's been a really difficult year so far.

I'll be back after a bit. Happy BL drama watching.

PS...I do feel blessed that I very recently talked to my dad on the phone and we exchanged loving words.

I’m very sorry about your dad. I hope the support from family and friends, both irl and online, help you through this difficult time. Always here for you to talk ❤️

@RXinw

i was trying to remember what you said about the NC scene from Bangkok Boy. I knew you found it moving. I’m glad you agree with my assessment, since we seem to be the two members of this group who find the NC scenes—especially the explicit ones—meaningful. Also, yes, that painting! I really hope Mr. Joe doesn’t actually know what it means. But either way I’m scared of what he’s going to do.

i was thinking of you because i just watched episodes 2 and 3 of season of love in shimane. I realize the NC scenes are basically soft porn to most people, but i agreed with you (am I remembering correctly?) that the the main couple conveyed a lot of emotion— including love and longing and the desire to make up for time apart—through this scene, despite the emphasis on it’s explicit nature. I think you said it more poetically but I didn’t have the patience to go back and find your post about it. And while I’m confident in my ability to express myself with words, beautiful language is not my forte. But i think sex scenes can be really beautiful and meaningful and say things words can’t.

We had a 10 hour road trip yesterday and I was planning to finally catch up on all my dramas but then the universe decided to play with me and I ran out of mobile data and basically sat in the car thinking about BL for the whole journey instead 🤦‍♀️

Season of Love in Shimane - episode 5

OH.MY.GOD

What did I just witness between P and Pan. Where did all this chemistry come from!?!?

I am being very honest when I say not even in some of the series I have given 10s, I have never seen such levels of intimacy. I genuinely felt as if I was intruding on a private scene between a couple. I am wondering now if they are a real couple. I had to look away and adjust my position on the couch because my body was reacting. The dialogue and actions - romance simply put. That was some teenage type love right there.

Pan - "I want to stay up all night and talk to you."

From here it all began to feel and look very real. I could not play a romantic interest as an actor because after a scene like this I would have to ask, "what are we?", as the direct yelled cut.

Listen, I may sound like I am being extra, but I felt some things watching P and Pan during the final scenes of this episode.

It was not even a NC scene fully. It was a combination of NC and intimacy at a dangerous level; the dialogue, touches, laughs in between and kisses 🥹

When Pan asked P to talk to him in a cute Thai manner my heart stumbled. Then these sentences spoken by P:

"I will stay up all night talking to you ka, baby.", "Are you feeling good ka?", "Mine is all hard.", "Would you like me to put it in."

@Dora I am assuming you are referring to this post of mine.

Oooh that looks promising xD Thanks a lot, I need to investigate now ahahah

Memoir of Rati had such a great strong start. I know Inn from other things with other partners, but I don't know Great, so this is my first time seeing him. I love the chemistry they already have right off the start. I was waiting so long for this to finally air, and I'm so happy it's finally here and has a such a strong start.

The Next Prince with another great episode. I want a man that will look at me the way Zee looks at New.

Welcome to the club 😊Thank goodness it’s two episodes a week—makes the wait a little less painful!

I really hope Mr. Joe doesn’t actually know what it means.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling Mr. Joe understands all too well what that painting represents. I’m scared of what he might do. He’s got way bigger issues with the lobbyists, but the guy’s ruthless.

I don’t usually comment on the NC scenes, but I do appreciate having someone in the group who sees the depth in those scenes too. I agree with you and @RXinw there’s a kind of quiet poetry in the way intimacy, whether explicit or not, convey emotions that words simply can’t capture, when done right.

 OnyxTheHedgehog:
thinking about BL for the whole journey instead

The worst nightmare of all. But a whole car ride thinking about BL? I bet you cooked up some interesting storylines! 😉

Boys in love: This episode was a delightful blend hilarious and adorable from start to finish, yet with enough emotional weight to bring a few tears along the way.

I really felt for Shane not getting the scholarship he worked so hard for it. It makes sense that he’d feel lost and unsure after seeing all his plans suddenly fall apart. The emotional fallout felt real and raw. While his disappointment was totally understandable, it was a bit puzzling to see how this single setback disrupted his entire sense of purpose and career path.

Kit handled things so well, giving Shane the time and space he needed to process his emotions while offering calm, reassuring support. Their dynamic continues to be a highlight of the series. They’ve clearly come a long way emotionally and as partners.

However, not all the storylines hit the same emotional depth. Kim and Moon’s subplot felt like a missed opportunity for real character development. The situation surrounding Moon’s past relationship with a girl was brushed off with a quick assurance that he wasn’t confused, but the conversation lacked depth. A more open and honest dialogue about identity and feelings could have added so much more meaning and relatability.

In short, the episode delivered on laughs and cuteness, but left some emotional potential on the table. Still, it’s exciting to see where the characters go from here.
