Lost in Kyoto

for a short drama this was good, although a bit confusing. I liked the premise, the chemistry, and the general ambiance of the show. I was never quite sure if we were watching the film within the film or not, though. That was my biggest complaint. The ending was nice. I would have liked a bit more of a conclusion but it was adequate for a show of this length. Also, the NC scene was short but fire.

The Luminous Solution

https://kisskh.at/735757-the-luminous-solution

so a new BL just started called The Luminous Begins. Right now it requires membership to the YouTube channel to watch but maybe it will come to Gaga later.

https://youtu.be/7I5NBtKZHG8?si=iPqR60s0ghgmBLvS

When I looked it up I saw that it was a prequel so I decided to watch the first one. I found it on Gaga but it think it’s also on YouTube. (The free YouTube version is cut so you miss the few NC scenes.)

it has a very low rating and a lot of complaints on the MDL page but I gave it a 7.5. I enjoyed a lot of it. It tells the story of a high school couple and an adult couple facing challenges and trying to deal with them. there is also this magical cafe where people can go and make a wish.

positives: the couples had great chemistry, they were nice to look at, the acting was pretty good, and the issues they deal with are realistic and portrayed well. There is a great plot twist near the end that helps everything make more sense and integrates the magical elements into the story.

negatives: the magic part doesn’t really seem to fit into most of the story, and is only really explained in the last episode. There is also a side story about a single mom and her son that seems unrelated and confusing and unnecessary. As for the main plot. I don’t really like cheating stories or stories about being unable to accept being gay so those were upsetting even if well-done. but i Was satisfied with the resolution. It really made me think if I would choose to erase someone’s memory of me if I had hurt them badly. i don’t think I would make that choice, and as the person who has gotten hurt a lot in the past, I still wouldn’t want those memories erased just to avoid the pain. I liked that the show raised such an interesting question.

overall my semi-low rating was mainly based on plot holes and confusing story elements. Also it’s only a 6 episode series yet it took me until the middle of episode 2 to care about the characters. But I liked the characters and their journeys.

the story was also different than anything else I’ve seen and I liked that.

there is kissing but the NC scenes are very limited.

overall I would recommend this show but with certain reservations.

Day 17: Favourite OST of all time!

It's gotta be RevLove OST, although The Untamed one is a close second. I guess it depends whether you want modern or costume drama OST at that moment. I also like the OST of the BL anime Given.

 RXinw:
Peanut cake

We call it "pé de moleque" around here and instead of ginger, we use butter. So good, I’m obsessed! 😍😍😍😋😋😋

Day 16: Favorite Food

Today’s challenge was downright sinful and left me absolutely starving! 😂😂😂
I love homemade pizza and the Spanish-style codfish I make because I prepare a lighter version.
Other foods I love:
"Pão de Queijo" (Cheese bread) and "coxinha" (a Brazilian deep-fried snack filled with seasoned shredded chicken). Two perfect snacks for watching a movie/series.

"Pão de Queijo"

Coxinha

"Tapioca" in all its forms: ice cream, pudding, stuffed with eggs, with ham and cheese, with coffee and milk...

And for dessert, a peanut pavê.

Memoir of Rati: I’ve said it before, Dech’s dad and P'Thee’s grandma are just plain cruel. But I’ve got to give credit where it’s due: the actors playing them are absolutely killing it, especially the actress who plays P’Thee’s grandma. Today’s episode was tough to watch. That scene where she catches P’Thee and K’Rati? You could feel the hatred pouring out of her. It honestly made me cry. I swear, even if I lived a thousand years, I’d never understand how people can be so hateful just because two people love each other. Also, shoutout to the actors playing P’Jam, P’Kui, and P’Mhay. They’re striking the perfect balance between humor and seriousness. So well done.

 Olive:
I AM BACK!!!

Yay! When I used to eat eggs I loved them on bagels, but not the cream cheese part, lol. I eat bagels without the cream cheese. Always have, lol.

 RXinw:
FRUITS

I don't know most of them but I recognize strawberries, which I LOVE lol.

 Ju Moon:
"Pão de Queijo" (Cheese bread)

Looks so yummy!!

 Ju Moon:
And for dessert, a peanut pavê.

Yes, I'll take that!! 😍

@ju moon

I’ve made Brazilian cheese bread before. Don’t know if the recipe was authentic but I thought it was delicious!

@RX

i love anything guava, especially pastries with guava. I sometimes drink guava soda and my favorite hand cream is guava scented.
I don’t know if most Americans think guava is weird or if it just made it to the us more recently, but I never used to see it here but now we can get it. Not most of the other fruits you mentioned though. Except for watermelon, strawberries, and apples.

so nice to have fruit trees at your house. anything tree-ripened is better. When I was growing up we had plum, nectarine, and loquat trees at our house. (The beloved tree in revenged love is loquat.) now my parents have a weekend house with grapefruit, orange, and lemon trees.

@art girl

i also love to cook and talk about food, but I also go through long periods where I just eat frozen food from Trader Joe’s. lol.

my best friend in San Diego is vegan and also a BL and K-pop lover so we spend our weekends searching out vegan Asian food and drinks. There is so much authentic Asian food here so it’s possible to find stuff for her to eat. We also have lots of Asian supermarkets with fruit and vegetables we wouldn’t be able to get otherwise, as well as every possible kind of prepared food. I now have a favorite vegan cup noodle. I eat those way too often.

i love hearing about everyone’s favorite foods. I wish i could try them all. (Ok, maybe not all the unfamiliar meats RX mentioned, but everything else.) I especially want to try all the fruits and baked goods!

@RX

i forgot to mention I went on a trip to the Caribbean in December and tried fresh sugar cane. It was amazing. We made sugar cane juice too.

unfortunately because it was a cruise we didn’t get to try local food everywhere, although we went to a village in Dominica where they made us some local specialties.

my favorite food was in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I probably liked it best because it was most familiar and also because we had local coffee and pastries.

i did buy some single origin chocolate on one of the islands that was totally amazing. (I’m sorry I can’t remember where.)

the trip wasn’t the greatest because I was seasick a lot and we missed part of the cruise due to flight cancellations. But the places we did get to explore were really interesting and beautiful.

BL Challenge Day 17: Favourite OST of all time

Theme songs from "Until We Meet Again", just the sound of which instantly makes me choke up.

Anything made by Pharm, as long as it's zero sugar and low carb. (That doesn't leave much.)

Same for me too every single time

Tonight's Memoir of Rati ep 10 was an intense one. Preview of next week's looks really good.

Rough ep 10 of The Promise of the Soul tonight. I really do feel tremendous sympathy for Guan Riqing. He really has suffered the most, and it manifested in the worst possible ways. Xia Cha really has so much compassion and a sweet heart. It's no wonder Ye Haiyuan is so captivated by him and has fallen for him.
