I watched episode 1. I’m not impressed. But the kiss was good.

Same same!

My Secret Vampire - Finally finished!

I had some time tonight and I'm glad I used it to watch the cutest bunch of vampires in all of BL dramaland! Never did I ever think I would say that about vampires but here I am. Course this wasn't really a typical vampire show about humans getting their blood sucked by vampires with large sharp fangs and stuff like that.  And don't vampires avoid the daylight?  These were very casual & fun vampires.

Dongha is totally adorable! 😍   This is his debut role in a drama. So like when an actor does a great job on stage and people throw flowers at them, I sent Park Dong Ju flowers. And of course added him to my Cutie Pookie list.

The bathroom scene was soooo romantic and the chemistry was sizzling! I'm not sure there was a resolution on how vampire Juwon & human Dongha worked out their differences, or I missed it.

Extra nice bit - The OSTs are sung by 3 of the vampire gang. I haven't seen an MV though.

I liked it, too. Fun watch.

I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously, haha.

He definitely qualifies as a cutie-patootie.

Love in the Moonlight ep 9 & 10

oh man! The whole situation is a disaster right now! I wasn’t  even sure the wedding would be stopped but I can’t believe Saenkaew’s father would risk hurting his own son that badly just to stop him from leaving! He’s so awful! And I want to feel sorry for Pin but I just can’t. Why is she being so vindictive?! She’s knows this won’t make her happy, yet she still insists on continuing to hurt Sasin and Saenkaew because she feels foolish and slighted. It’s not right! ! I was actually hoping Inthorn might succeed, even though it would be a scandal. Maybe then Sasin and Saenkaew could just run away forever. i know Saenkaew doesn’t want to leave permanently without helping his family, but he shouldn’t feel obligated to his evil father! His grandmother, I understand, and Hompthip, but I was so happy when Hompthip told him just to go follow his happiness. Saenkaew has sacrificed for too long. And to see his pained face for all this time! Oh my heart hurts again.

i have no idea how anything will be resolved, and we only have one more week. Please let’s see our most beloved characters happy at least! Why does the world have to be cruel and homophobic?! 😢

I'm loving At 25:00 in Akasaka Season 2 ! The first season was one of my favorites, and this one is shaping up to be even better. I love the characters so much and the actors are doing such an amazing job portraying them. This is making want to rewatch S1.

I completety forgot that Usa Takuma was in this. It was a nice surpise to see him again so soon after Depth of Field .

Hey everyone, how's it going?

**Sigh** There's so much to watch and keep up with this month. I feel a bit overwhelmed! But today I did catch up with That Summer. I'm trying to give it a chance. The chief & doc couple have my attention, but I haven't warmed up to Lava yet. I'm really hoping Lava will transform into great boyfriend material cuz rn I don't know why Wave is attracted to him.  I feel kinda unexcited about the series overall. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was about to continue watching Love in the Moonlight but then I saw the last few posts and decided to let the worst get over with first, lol. Call me chicken! It's prob my favorite current series by default. All the other BLs on my WL are just so-so.

Two new BLs coming up soon that I do feel excited about are Me and Who & Head to Head. Yay! 🥳

The Cursed Love ep2

this series continues to surprise and impress me. it‘s exciting! And I really like the MLs. some of the character background was explained this episode so we understand them better. I wish I understood the mythology they’re alluding to in the story but I looked it up and it’s about a myth from southern Thailand, from the creator/producer’s hometown. I think not knowing the mythology is supposed to be part of the mystery. Each episode it looks like we will get a little more of a peek into the characters past lives and the mythology those are part of.  Each episode also seems to bring the MLs closer into each other’s worlds. i can‘t wait for more.

i found an article saying that this is the most money ever spent on a Thai BL production to date. I find it even more shocking then that it wasn’t on my radar more. It was in my PTW list though. Maybe there are just too many shows to keep track of right now. It’s easier to get excited about the ones with known actors or couples, since we already have an expectation for those. But I hope word of mouth spreads about this one. It’s no amazing work of art like Litchi Island, but it does have a sweeping cinematic quality and an engaging story. I predict this will gain viewers as it goes. It’s really so good so far.

Here’s more info and kudos about the show from Boys Love Insider:

Ok I’m going to watch the newest episode now. I loved the first season as well, I’ve watched it at least 4 times. The show was actually the reason I first got GagaOOLala. So far the second season looks good but I always worry about the need for new conflicts for season 2 of any show.

i totally did not realize Usa Takuma was the same person in this and Depth of Field. But I loved him in Depth of Field so i will definitely be paying more attention to him this time. his mannerisms are so different between the series I just didn’t make the connection. its just proof that he’s really talented.

i watch many more Thai BLs than Japanese ones, but I feel like the Japanese ones tend to be higher quality overall. They capture emotions in a subtler yet more powerful way than most Thai shows. They also have an amazing ability to make shorter series that are still full of emotional development. The Koreans need to learn from them.

At 25:00 in Akasaka s2 — ep3

this show is great! And it’s not your typical season 2 (not that there are so many in the BL world.) I’m really loving the direction it’s taking.

regarding Japanese BLs in general, it’s not that they’re all good, it’s just that the good ones are often powerful, even when based on known tropes, like Akasaka. Also the percentage of JBLs that I find moving compared to the number I watch is high. Maybe there is a selection bias in terms of what gets released outside of Japan. All I know is I have a lot of JBLs on my favorites list.

update: I’ve watched 50 JBLs and 22 made my favorites list. I’ve watched over 350 BLs total and  my favorites list has 87 right now.

Lover Merman - EP 2 & 3

It's improved  over EP 1. But still, stalker Phu and his smug smirky grin is rubbing me the wrong way. I have SLS for Phrapai with his cute dimples and bright eyes...and smile...and...everything.

I'm enjoying it more now so I'll keep going.

Second teaser for Interminable 🫣  coming Nov 7.

A few new BL titles and a few I may not have heard mentioned here yet.

Black and White is Real  (vertical) set for 2025

Chronicles of Xiangxuji - Not on MDL that I could find. Same MLs from Meet You at the Blossom! Released planned for Dec. I can't tell if it's BL for sure.

Pluto Charon coming Oct 19. Can't find a MDL page. Trailer below

My Little Ghost (Vietnam) started Oct 3 on YT. Here's a trailer

Never Ending Story on YT started a few weeks ago too. Here's EP 1

Thanks for the updates (and for reminding me how much I miss RXinw).

Thanks! Me too! Come back soooooon, RX!!

Too soon to say, but it's promising and has an original theme/vibe.

Update after today's episode 2 of "Punks Triangle": This series is getting really good - not only for the original theme/vibe (as I wrote last week) but also because of the interesting way that the "triangle" is developing.

As to episodes 5 & 6 of "Story of Bi Hyeoung": It's entertaining but confusing. I'm still not sure what to think of it. Feedback from others in the group watch?
