I vote for School Trip!

BIG & PARK

BIG! 😍😍😍

Now that I have gotten introduced to many pairs within the last year that were new to me, alongside some I was already familiar with, like Pond & Phuwin, I think it's time to finally watch We Are. I especially am excited to see my Lava & Wave again.

 jazme:

Any of you watched The Racer and His Dr Perfect? I think it's available in Youtube, but watched it in Netshort. It's from China (I think) and doesn't have an MDL page yet.

Suggestion on which should I watch first? These 3 looks good and I can't decide lol

  • Chosen Home
  • School Trip: Joined a Group I’m Not Close To
  • Papa and Daddy's Cooking

Aside from being Japanese, the three titles are very different from each other, so it depends on you:

"School Trip" (Gaga) is a cute, feel-good, broadly popular school BL (albeit with older actors), so this is probably the safest choice. I loved it. There are special episodes coming on  12/28 and 1/4.

"Chosen Home" (Netflix) is a mid-life BL but with many other elements. It's a (mostly) gentle slice-of-life comedy about a constructed family which also touches on various serious themes. I loved it, but it's probably not for everyone. (Disclaimer: I've still not watched Sunday's final episode. Me very busy!)

I've not yet watched "Papa and Daddy's Cooking" (fansubber) but plan to. As far as I know, it's not a BL, nor was it ever promoted as such, but rather about child-raising in a constructed family. The reviews I've read are quite positive.

Oohh thanks for this. Ii thought it was bl with a similar vibe as Chosen Home.

then i might go with school trip as this seems the unanimous vote =D thanks!

BL Challenge Day 24: Favourite Taiwanese BL in 2025

Easy, not least because there weren't many: "Secret Lover".

I loved the series on its own merits, but what really adds something uniquely sweet and special here: Chance and Guno (as they subsequently announced themselves) fell in love while making the show and are dating in real life! That was three months ago, and I've not heard otherwise since, so I assume/hope it's still true. (Anyone know?)

Hey Secret Lover is my pick too! Guess I won't have to post it tomorrow, lol. I have heard the same about them being together, but not sure I can personally say I heard it clearly from them. Sometimes I can't tell though, with the language challenges and auto subs.

I think it's time to finally watch We Are.

Yay! I hope u like it!! Whenever I think of that drama I also think about how much fun many of us had when watching it together last year. Good times!

Has anyone else watched "Kokoro" (recent 30-min. short movie with Kusakawa Takuya (= Minato) and Higuchi Kouhei (= Segasaki)?

It's confusing (and also a lot more serious than I was expecting). I've watched it twice, and also tried to get some sense of its relationship to the 1914 novel by Natsume Souseki, but I'm still not entirely clear about a few things. If anyone can enlighten me, speak.

Before anyone asks: There's a gay component, but no, I wouldn't call it a BL.

DECEMBER BL CHALLENGE 2025
Day 24: Favorite Taiwanese BL in 2025

It's not full BL, but Marry My Dead Body is one! I watched this movie this year and it was so much fun.

Sad too and scary, all kinds of feelings to be had with this one. I do recommend it.

I loved that one, too - not as a BL (which, as you say, it really isn't) but as a really good gay-themed police action-comedy.

This year's remake "The Red Envelope" (with PP Krit and Billkin) was also really good, but so different.

I can't decide which I prefer. Any opinions out there? ("Red Envelope" has a higher average MDL rating - 8.4 vs. 8.0 - but that might be influenced by PP Krit / Bellkin fandom.)

I have watched Marry my dead body like 2 years ago it was good I haven't watched the thaï remake because I didn't know there was one but I'm going to (maybe today if I have time).

I'm curious it's unusual for me to watch remakes i wonder which one I'm gonna prefer.

 Tiffany:
I haven't watched the thaï remake

As I recall, I watched "Red Envelope" on Netflix via VPN to Bangkok. (Netflix can be finicky about VPN, but with patience and some retries, I can usually get it to work.)

I tend to be sceptical about remakes of ironic originals that don't need remaking, but sometimes they're a pleasant surprise (e.g. the Thai remake of "Cherry Magic").

And I definitely agree. I just finished Cherry Magic Thai version and this is really better than the Japanese original =D
