So I somehow spent the weekend binge-watching The Warp Effect. (I did still watch my new episodes of CW shows.) The Warp Effect is not officially a BL, but there is a great BL character/storyline that runs throughout. There is also a GL couple, a nonbinary character, a trans female character, someone into kink, and someone who isn’t skinny.
The show revolves around comedy/social awareness of all kinds of issues related to sex and sexuality. It’s also a time travel story. New is the lead, Fluke Pusit is his gay best friend (in the future), Jan is his lesbian best friend, and Sing, Mark Pakin, Phuwin, and Joong are all in straight couples that round out the cast.
According to the cast list, Fluke (paired eventually with Thor) is not the second lead, but he might as well be. His storyline was great. And there’s a really open and frank conversation at some point about the whole top/bottom/switch or other kinds of sex positions and preferences issue.
overall I really loved it. It is a multi-couple drama, so all the characters’ stories are addressed, but the queer storylines are just as important as the straight ones. If that’s good enough for you, I’d highly recommend it. There is a lot of sex, and it’s a bit explicit, but there isn’t a lot of skin shown. just a lot of enthusiasm. I gave it a 9.0
