My Journey with Asian films:

I literally grew up with Asian dramas, started around early 2000s. I watched a lot of old dramas and movies released in 1990s and 2000s as a kid. Chinese Dramas are the first type of dramas I’ve watched. My first drama was Journey to the West (1986). I still re-watch it once in a while.

My first Korean Drama is Dae Jang Geum (2003), or Glass Slippers (2002). I don’t remember exactly which one I watched first.

Japanese tokusatsu shows Super Sentai Gaoranger, Ninpu Sentai Hurricanger, and Kamen Rider were also my childhood series, which I watched with my brother. :)

For a long time, I mostly watched Korean and Chinese dramas. As for Chinese dramas, I’ve watched and enjoyed more period and historical dramas than modern ones.

I started watching more Japanese dramas again around 2015, when I watched the live action of my favorite anime AnohanaJapanese dramas are much less popular than other Asian ones, so it's harder for me to find where to watch them.

I've also watched a few Filipino and Thai dramas, but not so many.

My Watching Habits:

I re-watch films a lot, so my list doesn’t have many new titles, compared to the time I’ve spent on dramas. I have a long plan to watch list but often find myself re-watching my old dramas. :)

I rarely drop, and never skip or speed up while watching a drama. I often re-watch scenes while watching too. If a drama is in my on-hold list, it usually means that I couldn’t find where to watch it. My dropped list is also full of the old dramas that are impossible to find.

I watch all genres: Romance, Comedy, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Mystery, Thriller, Action, etc. It depends on my moods. I watch whatever I feel like at the time.

I decide to watch a drama based on its synopsis. I don’t like spoilers so I usually avoids reading reviews or comments before watching. But I love reading different reviews and comments from others after I have completed a drama.

I used to watch dramas when it was airing, but now I prefer binge-watching, and mostly focus on only one or two dramas at a time too. Other titles in my currently watching list are usually either entertainment shows or very long series like sitcoms or asadoras, etc.

My Ratings:

I rate my films out of my enjoyment and I'm quite generous. I give a lot of 10, 9.5 and 9. I think I enjoyed most of the films I’ve watched. However, I do pay attention to little details in a film and can be picky sometimes. Or maybe I’m just lucky to choose a lot of great works.

There are a few criteria for my ratings, but it’s not always exactly the same way, as my ratings are mood-based.

Also, my childhood dramas are often exceptions. I enjoyed most of them and rate them high. Even if I might not like a drama as much as I used to do when I re-watch it later, I usually keep my initial rating.

9-10

It gives me a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment, even though there might be a few things I don't quite like about it. It is re-watchable.

8-8.5

It's a good one. I quite enjoyed it. I may re-watch it, or not.

7-7.5

Overall it’s good. There are great moments that I enjoyed, but nothing special.

6-6.5

I'm a little bit disappointed, but overall it's okay.

5-5.5

It's watchable, but not enjoyable.

4-4.5

I didn’t enjoy it, though there are very few things or moments that I like. Not worth watching.

0-3.5Not worth watching at all.

Please keep in mind that my opinions about a drama are just about my personal taste. I may have a different taste from you.

I often write long reviews. I write them for myself, so I often add some personal experiences that I relate to the story or characters. I really appreciate it if you read through my lengthy reviews. :)

I don’t rate or review the films I haven’t completed.
