Finally back home after 9 weeks of travel. Getting back to my shows is harder than I thought, so I'm finding myself starting new shows instead (I don't know why I do this). I just started Love of Silom with Poom and Up. I'm enjoying it. Hope everyone's well.

wow, 9 weeks! that's a long travel! i hope everything went smoothly and you enjoyed every single minute of it =)

i'm thinking of watching this love doesn't have long beans. i've heard about and seen some gifs on tumblr regarding how horny af they are in this show. and it's got me curious. especially considering i only just realized the show's leads also portray jeffalan in pit babe. how did i not realize that before now?

Usually I like BLs, even mediocre ones, more than most in this group, but in this case I think I was less enthusiastic than the average. It was moderately enjoyable, and I don't regret watching it, but most others seemed to like it much more. I really liked the side couple (Garfield/Benz) and their storyline, and the food porn was nice enough (aside from pimped ramen noodles to do product placement, haha), but the main couple didn't work for me (Oab too grouchy and unlikable, and Plawan better as a comic character), plus I thought there were a lot of gaps and weaknesses in the writing/story, especially the ending, which felt forced to me.

Anyways, if you enjoyed "Pit Babe", you'll probably enjoy seeing the actors.

It's a shame that Garfield/Benz officially ended earlier this year. I thought it was a good CP, and they're both decent actors. I hope we see more of them.

i was saddened by this news as well. i hope they get paired with good ones and will have good series too

This isn't BL related, but yesterday I went to visit my grandparents, and at some point my grandmother and I sat down and watched Crash Landing On You. I've seen it before with English subs, but we watched it with Hebrew subs and it was so different.

With English, I'm more relaxed. With Hebrew, I have to focus more on what they're saying, but there are a lot of words I don't know. I always knew my English was better than my Hebrew, but it still surprised me just how much lol.

Have you guys ever tried watching something you've seen before but in a different language?

I did a poll since opinions on Century of Love seemed divided. For now, the votes aren’t really representative since there are no votes for “didn’t like it,” so don’t hesitate to vote 😄

I got used to watching subs in English to the point that when I can choose the language I prefer English to French (my mother tong), but as I am a foreign language student, I often switch subs in the languages I study. It's harder for me but it's the best way to memorize how words are written. Netflix has a pretty broad range of languages for subs, so I mostly put the subs in German and Portuguese (my majors), for my minors (Italian and Spanish), I only watch series originally in these languages, with original subs. And when I watch series on pirate sites, it's always English I find anyways.

So to answer your question, yes as soon as I re-watch a series on Netflix, it's with German subs and it often sounds very different to my first watch with English subs. By the way, I got so used to English subs that it's equal if Korean, Japanese or Thai series, I find the subs in English matching well the language flow… but when I get the German subs, I find it super hard to follow, even though my knowledge of the German language is slightly better than my English.

Yes! I can't recall which show, but the English subs were not coming up for an episode, so I watched it with Spanish subtitles. It worked well enough for me. For some reason, I also get challenged to play Trivia Crack in Spanish (maybe from my maiden name which sounds Spanish but is Portuguese in origin).

I didn't read the spoiler but now I'm a bit scared to watch it

I think it's one of those things a person is either comfortable with or not in order to make the story believable.

I hope you had loads of fun!!

I haven't started Love of Silom yet. Waiting for most of the eps to be out.

Speaking of polls, my elevator poll ends in 16 hours and rn it's almost a four way tie. Very interesting to watch. 😺

It's been fun.

I feel bad for kelvin. No one picked him

I'm boycotting because of the conspicuous absence of Pharm (my most extra dearly beloved Fluke Natouch). Hrumph!

I've tried that with Spanish but gave up because I have to constantly pause the frame to think. The subtitles just flip by too quickly. Other than English, and despite many years of learning other languages, the only language I can read without thinking is German, which doesn't usually help with BLs.
